Post Electric Fan ?!?

I'm interested in getting better gas mileage out of my F-150 and was told that the best way was to install an electric fan. I was wondering if this was the best way to get better gas mileage and if so, how much do they cost and where can I get one. Any help is appreciated.

Probably the best fan for the money is the Lincoln Mark 8 fan. You can get the fan from http://www.houstonperformance.com for $99. Then get like a Permacool electric fan controller. Get the manual adjustable one with the AC (if you have AC). Then wire it all up.

The Mark8 fan is VERY popular with the mustang croud and can cool 500hp blown motors just fine.

Cool

HI!... MAVO7 : I installed two DERALE 16 inch electric fans on my truck. I also installed a PERMA COOL adjustable thermastat switch. I wired the switch to one fan and wired the 2ND fan to a manual switch in my AUTOMETER guage pod. No matter how hot it gets outside my aftermarket engine temp guage never goes over 190 degree's, and that's with only the one fan running. I don't know if my fuel mileage increased or not because that's no concern to me. It did help in making my truck quicker in the 1/4 mile. Hope this helps you out.

I installed a Flex-a-Lite Black Magic fan on my V-6 from Summit Racing. I ordered it online and had it the next day! It was about $180 and included thermostat, and has performed flawlessly. The bigger motors may need more fan.

I've noticed no power increase, but my non-scientific monitoring of my mileage suggests an increase of at least 0.5 mpg, maybe as much as 1 mpg.
