Question 82 mm mass air flow sensor..need input

i got a billet aluminum 82mm mass air flow sensor custom made to work with my airaid fipk. i am using the stock sensor except it is now housed in 82mm diameter pipe. I reset the computer and noticed immediately that the throttle is more responsive. My question is, i am thinking of removing the housing around the element of the sensor itself. would this benefit me or is it a no no? please help.

somebody tried this a while back. He took a dremel tool and removes the tower inside the mass air flow meter. He ended up having all kinds of problems. This is a old mustang trick, it works sometimes, but sometimes it causes major problems.

Cool

A word of caution on opening up the intake too much. It will lean out your fuel/air ratio. I went from a stock MAF to a Pro M, which needed to be calibrated for 19 LB injectors. My mixture changed from 10.5 to 11.5 to 1. Which is perfect, but I would have it checked before you put the pedal to the metal.
Road_rage 1, was that you that epoxied the tower back on? Are you still running that MAF or did you get another one?
