Hi All,
Purchased the XLT in Oct 99 and to date have had only a few problems.
1)Interior mat worn thru at 9k(won't replace)
2)The ole' slapper noise from the 5.4 but
haven't had it repaired because I think
it would be worse afterwards.
3)Driveline slip. Repaired myself with
info found on website because the a@@holes
at dealer could not find a problem!

Great truck other than that. This is my first Ford. I have had GM's that went alot further with no problems. But I am not complaining, yet. But I don't like the way you are treated by the service people. Ford needs to make Service and Quality #1 and there would not be so many people angry with the problems they have.

After waiting 11 weeks (they said it would have taken longer but the 5-speed meant they could get it faster ?!?) for the truck I ordered to come in it showed up with scratches all over the dash. They replaced the affected parts without any trouble. After 8 months and 18,000 miles my only complaint is these tiny tires.

58k miles and going. It's hard to accumulate mileage here in the island (100mi x 35mi) as you can do in the states with all those monster highways. We have a lot of stop and go situations with holes ( large potholes) everywhere that can make trash out of the front suspension on any car. I am happy with mine because it's still working properly.

We change (under warranty) a coil, the MAF and the leather steering wheel. Rear sliding window sealed as well. Even though we have been through this minor inconveniences I am in love with my pick up. Most of the time it is more than I expected. And when not I try to fix whatever it is to make it up to my expectations. I really love all those aftermarkets products out there for our rigs.

For me a success story would be being able to installed the body lift and put under it the big meat. Looks great and I am very proud of the vehicle we drive.

153,000 miles on a 97 f150 4x4. Most major problem so far is two broken rear axles but we all know what causes that so I cant blame ford for it. Gone through lots of brakes, and lots of gas but we know what causes that too
