Lightbulb True or False??? (5.4 rough idle)

***I FOUND THIS ON FORD TRUCK ENTHUSIASTS MESSAGE BOARD***I am a proud owner of a 2000 F-150 XLT 4x4 Off-Road. I have had a 1998 F-150XL and I loved it! I had noticed a major issue with rough idle and when I came to the board, I noticed that a lot of folks were complaining about it to. So off to the Ford dealership went I and as per usual, I was told, everything checks out fine. A couple of days past, it got worse, so little ol me goes back to the Ford dealership fuming mad and begging the Service Manager to hear me out! He did, I told him that this is NOT normal and he agreed. It went into the shop and two hours later I got a call at home. Would'nt you know it! There's a recall with regards to this! Amazing! They admit fault after two frustrating trips to the dealership. I am posting the recall number here so all you with the 5.4L V8 have a reference number to go in with. Details on the recall have not been posted as of yet, but they did provide a number to me. I hope this solves your problems, it did mine. Rough idle is gone, more power on the pedal, smoother shifts etc....Feels like a brand new truck!!!! Good luck all!!
Recall Number : ooS29 <---- Letters OR 00S29 <---- Numbers

Parkinson's (serious disease) but owning a rough idler, I can appreciate your humor. Mark. The Recall # is nowhere to be found on this site's recall/tsb section. Off to the NHTS site. Would be nice if it were true though.
Well I'll keep driving my 30 grand "Martini shaker" until they find a cure.

This message was copied and pasted from another site. If you read CAREFULLY you will read that the owner said the recall was NOT POSTED YET! I only dropped this message here to find out if this was true. SLOW DOWN truckowner and read the whole message.

RJ,
I'm with you. I didn't mean to imply that your intentions were anything less than honest. I just wanted to check it out ASAP. I've lived with this idle long enough and I just wanted to help out. Thats all.

OK, this sounds good - does anyone know yet if it applies to the '98 5.4's?

Also, what is the drl?

Let's keep our fingers crossed on this one...

Happy New Year!

The most common definition:
DRL= Daytime Running Lights.

Are Canadian and US numbers the same? Most US bound trucks don't have DRLs.

s - stands for a safety recall so u should get a letter in the mail or phone the local dearlership with your vin# and they should be able to tell u if your vehicle is effeted under the recall, may have to wait a bit for parts as the recall is just out

I called ford HQ today and inquired about this recall. It is for daytime running lights and those trucks that are affected should receive a recall letter.It is a terminal corrosion problem. This is most likly going to be canadian registered vehicle recall.

All Lariats have the Daytime Running Lights. I myself have not seen any recall notices. Hopefully this will help me with my rough idle (not a big problem yet). Thanks for the info!
