Question Miles Per Tank?

I just bought a 2000 5.4 Lariat Ext. Cab 4x4! How many miles should I be able to get on a full tank of gas? I usually try not to let it get down to low because it make the fuel pump work to hard so I am just curious how many I can get before I run out. Thanks

I have a SuperCrew rather than your SuperCab, and my rig gets anywhere between 350 and 450 miles per tankful, depending on the conditions and how I drive it. My overall average in 6000 miles has been 15.57 MPG.

I often run 25 miles after the fuel lite comes on but I start looking for a gas station about 300 mi.

I get about 675km out of my 4.6l reg cab, 5sp short box w/ orp. You'll notice that your mileage improves after about 15000k or about 10000mi.

Should be easy to calculate a tank, if it's 25 gal just subtract what you put in and multiply by mpg. When the light comes I fill up because the tank gas is what keeps the fuel pump from burning up. Mine usually comes on with about 4 gallons left. I don't know how much it takes to keep the pump adequately cool. Guess will have to wait until they start getting replaced and ask the owner how low he usually let the tank get.

Thumbs up

Don't feel bad waldo,I went hunting this fall and I only got 185 miles out of that tank-Good thing there was a fishing resort about 20 miles away(gas station)from where I was hunting.THe 4.2 can be really good(I have gotten 21 mpg- freeway at 65) and really bad (that hunting trip-a little over 9 mpg)

I get between 320 and 360 miles per tank with about 3 gallons left. Have never gotten below 300 miles per tank.

I have a 98 f-150 with the 4.6 and my highest tank was 420 miles. My lowest tank was around 250 miles. 4 wheel drive and
-20f outside really cuts into that mpg. I usually get 14 mpg in the winter, 17 in the summer.

I get about 325 to 400 in my 4.6 engine. That sound like what most people get. But 325 is my worst, that is only driving to work and back home (5 miles round trip) over two weeks (no life ).

I made a miscalculation. I am supposed to have 16 inch wheels but i have 17's and I have 265/70/17 tires so my milage is off and so is my spedometer, so I am getting more MPG than I origionally had thought which is a pretty good thing :-)
