Question ? about 5.4L and rear axle

I have a 2001 f150 XLT SPORT w/ the 5.4L (2wd reg. cab & bed).
Now my question is is what size rear axle do i have?? I am fixing to do a gear swap and i think that it is a 9.75 but wanted to make sure. Any help would be appreciated.

Count the bolts holding the differential cover on. There are 10 bolts on the 8.8 and 12 on the 9.75.

Cool

HI!... ALL F-150's equipped with the 5.4 engine have the STERLING 9.75 rear end. It's a VERY strong rear end. Hey the LIGHTNING uses it and we all know what those guys put them through. All other F-150's equipped with the 4.2/4.6 engines come standard with the 8.8 rear end. All the "97" to current rear ends in the F-150's have 31 spline axles. At least FORD's is finally thinking for once.
