Question diesel or gas?

I'm looking to get a F250 SD and am looking for feedback on the Diesel and the V10. Performance in towing and gas milage.
Thanks for the info.

Greg,

I just purchased a 2001 F250 4x4 7.3 Turbo Diesel and I think it is great. I weighed the pro's and con's between the 2 and decided that the Diesel was the better choice for my purposes.

The Diesel gets about 18.5 MPG on the Highway with no load at 70 mph and about 15 in the City. You will get a lot less with the V10. The V10 has more Horsepower but less Torque than the Turbo Diesel as you well know. However if you are pulling a trailer any distance at all you will be better off with a Turbo Diesel. Just my opinion.

I have a 28' Haulmark Trailer I pull that has a Car inside and Gross's out at about 8,000 lbs +-. When pulling the trailer I get about 12.5 MPG at 70 MPH.

Hope this helps,

Bob R

Go with the diesel. For the money you pay for the V-10 it isn't worth it. Worst of all I think the V-10 sounds like a little 4-banger. The new powerstroke is an awesome engine. I garauntee that you won't be disappointed with it.

My 2 cents worth

If you're gonna stroke it, POWERSTROKE IT!!!
