Question on Slick 50
I use to use Slick 50 about 10 years ago with my older cars. I haven't used in in the past 10 years. I have a 2001 F150 4.2 with approx. 16000 miles on it. My questions is it a good idea to use Slick 50? They say it wont void the warranty, is that really true?
Would anyone recommend using it? If no, why? I do use my truck now and then for towing, no more then 3500lbs, but mosty just daily driving. Thank you for any information that any of you can provide.

While slick does help some parts it increases wear to others...as was determined in an independant lab test conducted by Dept of Consumer Affairs which went after Slick & others who were making all sorts of unsubstantiated claims. Zinc oxide is probably the oldest and better lubricants for internal parts but it breaks down after about 3,000 miles and is very inexpensive!
Snake Oil
If you look at the Slick 50 package, you will see that the active ingredient is PTFE (aka Teflon). Dupont, the patent holders on PTFE, specifically recommend against using PTFE in internal combustion engines.
The best that could happen is it will end up in your oil pan - the worst is that it will block a bearing oil passage.
Save your money (and maybe your engine).

They don't call it Slick (Willie) 50 for nothing.....it has NO business being in an engine.
They got into much trouble for false advertising...too much theory, zero results...stay away from it.

Thank you all very much for your input. I will diffently NOT be using any Slick 50 in my engine. As I had said its been 10 years since I used it and it was in older cars, never a new one.
I have only been a member here on F150online.com for about 2 weeks and am just amazed at how much information I can find in here on many subjects.
With that said I just had to throw the question out about Slick 50 and am very glad I did so.
