Engine Oil
Amsoil XL 7500 cause it's good stuff, about the same price as Mobil 1 (which I like too) and I'm still under warranty so I change at 5K for now. As soon as the warraties up I am going 7500 each change. Use a good filter if you do this. Always liekd Castrol GTX in dino oil. never a problem with it but always changed every 3K with it.
I have Castrol pure synthetic in there right now and am going to switch to amsoil to see what big deal is. Castrol is not by any means cheap, but it might be overrated. Everyone who uses amsoil swears by it. I'm going to try it for myself.

1. Have your local dealer perform a Bilstein flush to your engine. Use Amsoil flush if Bilstein not available.
2 Install Amsoil Series 2000 0W30 pure synthetic & SDF 11 filter.
3. Don't look back.

Amsoil engine flush is plenty sufficient! It's been used for the last 15 years or so with no problems tha I have heard of. Heck you can't beat it for $4.50 retail. It does a great job.
Now as far as the oil. I sometimes feel that the 0w30 might be over priced for some folks at $8.10 a quart, unless you are taking it to the full recommended drain, you will save more with the plain jane 5w30 for $5.70 which is still recommended for 25,000 miles or 1 year.
Yes I run the 0w30 because I want the best. But If I wanted to save the most I would go with the other. I have yet to put over 20,000 a year on any vehicle I own!
Lastly, some folks are even better off with the 7500 since they are either not will or for some other reason do not want to go past the manufacture recommendatin of 5,000 miles. Which is fine.
Anyway you look at it synthetic will save money in the long run by reducing drain intervals and increase engine life. Also keeping the engine running at its best for a longer period of time.
PS check out mobil's 0w30 I saw it at PEP Boy's today for like $4.49, not a bad price!

I am currently using Mobil 1 synthetic with
Motorcraft filter. It is a little high per
quart but plan to keep my truck a long time
so it should be worth it.

I have used Amsoil in every truck I haved owned and will not use anything else. The only problem is finding a dealer in most cases. Amsoil far surpasses every oil on wear tests. Mobil one is too a good oil and is easier to get but still doesn't hold up like amsiol by many independant tests. For the long hall I would use amsoil. Not tring to tell you what to get but you asked our opinion and my choice is Amsoil...Take care and good luck with which ever you choose

Ok, so where the heck can I find Amsoil here in California? Either the oil or filters? I havent ever seen or heard of it before now. I havent even seen a Mobil 1 oil filter.
I have tried different oils and filters, and havent noticed much of a difference, but I tend to stay away from the "cheap stuff".
If anyone knows what CA stores sell amsoil, let me know! Thanks.

I'm not trying to take anything away from the Amsoil believers. I've never used their products. I've raced with some people who have used their lubes. But I have yet to be convinced that there are any better lubricants than Lubrication Engineers. I use 8530 Monolec in my engines and 607 Almasol in the differentials. Excellent stuff!

After talking to msparks he convinced me to switch over to Amsoil 5W-30. I'm in the same boat with Slickford. I've never heard of or seen Amsoil in my local stores. But thanks to msparks I'm very happy I did. In the long run it saves me money and the hassles of changing the oil every 3K miles. Plus the better protection it provides makes it a no brainer.

I agree with all the good things said about synthetics, but I've got to figure the price. Where I live, any synthetic is 3X the price of dino oil, so I use only regular 5W-30 Quaker State with Motorcraft oil filters, every 5,000 km (3,000 miles) at the most

2001, I had heard that they changed the specs
on oil for 2001 to 5w 20, Either way you should use what your book calls for until
your warrenty is up. As for synthetic it is
probably better to just make that decision
yourself because oil is a highly debated
subject and usually comes down to personel
preferance.
Good Luck!

Hey guys...very confused about this Amsoil/Mobil oil weight issue.
5W30 OR 0W30 ???????
0w30 will give you better "cold weather" performance. This stuff will pump faster at -20 than most conventional oils will at room temperature.
But Also the 0w30 has the same high temperature protection, even higher(with Amsoil) than any conventional and most so called "synthetics". So you see you get the best of both worlds.
Also the 0w30 has shown to get even better gas milage than 5w30 synthetic.
I run the Amsoil 0w30 Series 2000, its $8 a quart retail, and most folks cannot justify the cost, If they don't run the recommended drain of 35,000 miles or 1 year.
Now speaking of the Mobil 0w30 its far cheaper at $4.49 at Pep Boy's so if you want the great performance of a 0w30 but not at twice the cost go with the mobil1.
If you want to read about each of the 0w30 that I have talked about check out their web sites: http://www.mobil1.com/mobil1_racing/..._30/index.html
http://amsoil.com/products/tso.html
Now the mobil1 will last at least the factory drain of 5,000 miles(probably 10,000) But the Amsoil is good for 35,000. And that is where the cost justification comes in. And it's even better when you can buy at wholesale(email how to).
Hope this helps
