Thumbs down Service Engine light keeps coming on

Hi All
My Service Engine Soon Light keeps coming on. This is the 4th time. The dealer can not find any codes. They clear the light it will be ok for a while, then all off a sudden the light is back on.
The truck is running fine, idles perfect, no loss of power, or any driving problems. After the 2nd time I put on a K&N fipk, when it went on the third time, the dealer cleared the computer, but said because of the K&N they could not figure out what was wrong.
So I put the stock intake back on, and a few weeks later the light is back on.

Anyone have any ideas what is causing the Service Engine light to come on, and what can be done to keep it coming on.
I tried disconecting the battery for a few hours, but the 2nd or 3rd time you start it after the battery is disconected the light comes back.
Thanks
Don

Hello Don,

I bought a 2001 F150 that had the same problem. The "Service Engine Soon" light came on but the truck seemed to be running just fine. In my case, it was a faulty cam positioning sensor assembly. The part number was 1W7Z-6B288-AA. The following is from the work order:

"C/S Service engine soon light on when driving
WDS, EEC Test, P1000/P0340, WDS Diagnostics - Cam Sensor fault - Monitor found to be ok at this time - Install 104 pin breakout box, checked sensor circuits, ok. R&I Cam sensor, test with ohm meter, reading ok until cool down. Then goes open until room temp. and then it is ok again. Replace sensor and RE EEC Test ok"

I hope this helps. Good Luck.

Did they find any codes on your truck?
Every time the light comes on the dealer scans the truck, but no codes come up.
They can not find any problems, and this is getting frustrating.

Have you tried cleaning the MAF sensor?

Good luck

Da feel like a jerk, I had it out the other day but never cleaned it. Lets hope the light stays off.

Talking

Clean the MAF ans air temp sensors...if it comes back on, I'd bet it's an O2 sensor...failing that, the Cam Pos. sensor very well could be it.
