Angry There has got to be an easier way...

...to change the oil in our trucks! Actually, the oil filter to be more exact. You other 4X4 owners probably know what I'm talking about. The front dif is right underneath the oil filter location making it a beast to remove. I would imagine the two wheel drivers out there are yucking it up about this one. I practically broke my arm trying to get to it yesterday (I switched to Mobil 1 at 3000 miles.) I finally got an oil filter wrench adapter for a couple bucks which helped a little but I still had to dislocate my shoulder to get it in place! Does anyone have a secret method for removing the filter that they can share with the rest of us? I do like the drip guard they placed under the filter to catch the inevitable spill when it finally comes out. However, it did little to squelch the fine assortment of choice phrases coming out of my mouth after grinding my nuckle for the umptenth time!

Cool

I will ask my buddy with a y2k s/c 4x4 what his technique is - with me it is quite easy:

I have a 1999 that has the remote oil filter behind the drivers side fog light. Its about the greatest thing on my truck - since everything else seems to suck sometimes.

Wonder why Ford wanted to regress on this issue, instead of keeping it where my filter is....

I have a 97 and 00 EB expy. The 97 has the oil filter back by the oilpan, the 00 is in the front just behind fog lamp. Why did ford make that change?. Its such a pain in the a$$
to get to. I just did my first oil change on it today.Ill try the turning the wheel thing.
