V6 V.S. V8
Fordsport, Curious about something. I was bumping around the V-6 page today and noticed that you were lamenting the fact that nobody made headers for the the 4.2 on 10-23-2000 and now just a few weeks later you have a custom set of JBA's. You must have some incredible contacts to be able to score a set this quickly. Please let us in on your secret.

Roden, I have two 4.2 V6 trucks. In the previous post I stated that because it was true. "Nobody makes headers for the 4.2 engine". You can have them made for you, but costs big $$$. I am not going to pay the money to have another set made for my other truck. I want to be able to just order them like you 5.4 guys can. Well I knew this would happen. (This does not refer to you Roden.) My first post just stated that I think the 4.2 are better then people give credit to. It’s not about what I have in my Truck. I don’t have to justify to anyone anything. I don’t know why you guys are so skeptical of what my Dad and I have done for this truck. Geezz, you would think this is a chevy web site the way I am getting slammed. I am sorry that I don’t every number down to the oil pan to tell you guys about. Like I have said, my Dad is the one who mainly did everything to this truck. There have been plenty of v6 engines in the pass that have kicked butt. Why are you having a hard time believing that it can still happen? Thanks to the people who appreciate what has been accomplished with this truck. For the rest of you.... GET OVER IT!

Fordsport, Don't take it personally. We're all brothers here and I don't have any prejudice toward the V-6. The thing that got me going is the dyno numbers that you quoted. To me the concept of any and I mean Any 4.2 running down a 'vette is plain science fiction. You've got every right in the world to extol the virtues of the V-6 and nobody has the right to slam you for that. But, when you make claims of the magnitude of your original post, you are going to have to expect some scepticism. The mods listed so far wouldn't amount to 35 HP. Nobody is questioning your claim to having a hot 4.2, but we are all in search of that next "magic" mod and with your claims we could conclude that you guys have found about 10 of them. You've got to expect that 322 HP from a naturally aspirated 6 would stir things up around here. Regards, Roden.
no way in h$ll a natural asperated 4.2 liter engine makes 390 ft. lb.s of torque. diesels dont even belt out this kind of torque per cubic inch. no spec.(cam specs, intake mods, injector size) no quarter mile times = someone full of crap. i like you little touch about building a v-6 to get respect, cause the guys with 4600 lbs lightnings running with vettes of the show room floor get no respect, lol.
Roden these mods would only amount to 35HP?
I think they would be much more than that.
1.ported&polished heads
2.ported&polished throttle body
3.performance cam
4.performance roller rockers
5.forged pistons
6.throttle body spacer
7. Jacobs Ignition
8.Custom headers that jba made
9.cat back exhaust
Remember the 4.2 was made from the 3.8 and there are many performance products for this engine (3.8). Cylinder Heads, Intake Manifolds,Camshafts,Valvetrain parts, and Stroker kits are availible at www.rpm-mustangs.com. I believe him because they have proof of these mods on the site.

Andrew, You could be right about the number of 35 HP that I threw out. But do you honestly think that his V-6 is pumping out 390 ft./lbs. of torque? The web page that you cited gave no HP numbers. Yes the products exist, but that isn't the point. I really don't know what specific gains ported and polished heads and throttle body or a performance cam will give you. But I do know what headers, cat-back, Power-Aid (zero gains), or an ignition would give you. In any event the numbers aren't even close. If that sort of power could be wrung out of the 4.2., he and his sources should go into business. If he is engaging in hyperbole, then fine, but let's not try to lead people on.

i am moderatley into fast cars and have built a couple so let me throw some numbers at you and see if you belive this guys b.s.
according to his numbers he is making 1.27 h.p. per cubic inch and 1.55 lbs of torque per cubic inch, that would make a 302 make 383 h.p and 468 ft lbs of torque. or a 5.4 liter make 415 h.p. and 506 ft.lbs of torque. all with ported stock heads and a ported stock intake. a v-6 could make 300 but the torque figure is way off. if you have a v-6 good for you , but size does matter. call quality speed shop and tell them you want to build a 4.2 fuel injected v-6 ford that you want to make 320 h.p. & 390 lbs of toque, for 5,000 and listen for the laughs.

Its great that FordSport has a truck that runs so well. No one has anything against that. I'll even agree with Taxman to some extent in his claim that Fordsports V6 could eat some v8's.. (Although I wouldn't say any v8).
We like to hear what folks have done to their engines so we can live through ya'll and brag to our friends of how fast our engines 'could' be..
But, FordSports claims of how much HP/Torque gain he got from his V6 are alot higher than what we usually see.. So understand the skeptism..
Given how much those nascar dudes can coax from their engines, anything is possible though..

hey taxman you sure are confident in someone we all agree is full of crap. what does his truck e.t.? let me guess his time slips are with that dyno graph or at his dads house. oh yeah, this guy has the fastest truck on the sight, even though you admit his numbers are a little high. tell me if money where no object would you get a 4.2 or a 5.4?
i think it is just we all have to here people talk unbelievable bull***** and here on the internet we can call it like we see it. why would i be threatened by a truck? syclones and grand nationals have 6's and i am pretty sure both of those will beat my everyday driver f250. now my weekend car is another story!
