5.4 vs lightning engine

5.4 vs lightning engine
OK, so I'm new here. It looks like the lightning is running about 100 hp more than the normal 5.4. Wouldn't an intake, chip, headers and an exhaust run you fairly close to lightning power? Not that I still wouldn't want the lightning, but I'm sure my insurance wouldn't.

Zoso, you left out the most important part....The blower! BTW most insurance companies (so far) treat the Lightning like a regular F150.

Welcome zoso !! Those mods will not put you anywhere near the L. There are several good aftermarket superchargers available for the reg 5.4 . You will not get the forged pistons, trans upgrade, etc. Good Luck !!

HI!... ZOSO : As you can see from my SIG, I am running pretty close to a STOCK LIGHTNING's H.P and TORQUE #'s. My best time at the dragstrip so far has been 14.53. That time was with a lot of tire spin from the holeshot and because of my stock 19lb injectors, I'm running out of fuel BIGTIME on the top end. I figure that with a set of M/T SPORTSMAN PRO's, my new SUPERCHIP's FLIPCHIP, 24LB INJECTORS, BBK 75MM TB and a PRO-M, that my truck will go 13.8-13.9 in the 1/4 NATURALLY ASPERATED! The way I look at it, anyone can go to a FORD dealer and buy a LIGHTNING. To me, it's more fun to build it yourself. It's even more fun when you beat a STOCK LIGHTNING in a street race, and when he asks to look under your hood, and see's NO SUPERCHARGER and NO N.O.S!!!!lol!
