Question charging problem

This problem just started up a few weeks ago. When I rev the motor up around 3500rpm I start to lose a lot of electric, the lights will get very dim, fan slows..etc...the higher the rpm the less power it makes. The battery indicator comes on, and of course the dummy guage does nothing. Has anyone else had this problem and if so what was the problem?? Alternator?? Belt slipping?? - Thanks

Question charging problem

I would check the battery connections, and the belt to start with.
If those are ok , then I would probably test the alternator.
Also, I change the battery every 5 years.
Good luck,
Gene

If it's doing it when you increase RPM's, I'd suspect the belt slipping or worse case, the alternator. I'd check the belt tension first.....

Put a volt meter on it, and load the electrical system and then rev the engine and see what the voltage does...if it decreases sounds like a slipping belt...If it sqeals it probably is the belt slipping..
