Wrecked my baby
Well, the most important thing is that you are OK so you can keep buying new trucks and enjoying them in safe roads of course. Take care.

Hi Darn,
Thank God you weren't hurt!
Just in case you might not be aware, most insureance companies will total a vehicle if the damage estimate to repair is more then 2/3's of the wholesale value of the vehicle. With as expensive as todays trucks are, this could easily mean a $15,000 + repair job!
You might be surprised at the kinds of damage that can be properly repaired with the technology available today, so you might be OK on this. When you get your truck back, check for alignment & vibrations at all speeds, particularly as you slow down from very high speeds.
Best of luck,

DarnEFNET, sorry to hear about that. Like people have said, at least your ok and it's only money. I'm with you, I wouldn't keep the truck after you get it back. How are you going to sell it? Trade in or sell outright?
I had a similar experience with a 1 year old '91 Civic that my brother wrecked and they repaired it instead of totaling. It never drove the same after that and I kept having to go back to get little things fixed. I traded it in and the dealer never asked if it had been in an accident, though it was pretty obvious from the replaced windshield and shoddy paint job on the hood. A month later I get a call from a guy who bought the car from the dealer. He asked me if it had been in an accident. Evidently the dealer didn't feel obligated to say anything, so I told the guy "yeah". Needless to say he wasn't happy.

K guys I need your help, my truck is still in the shop for a frame replacement, I am thinking of making a checklist of everything to check once I get it back and also giving the repair shop the list before I pick it up, its important to me they fix it right the first time since I have moved 220 miles from where the truck is now, any suggestions on what to add to my list of things to check before I ever drive it back here? btw, I already have my load approved for my next truck but Im thinking maybe a superduty but not sure yet.
Have somebody follow you down a straight road for a while and see if your truck is dogtracking, you know when a dog is scared and he runs so hard the back end tries to pass the front. I see this a lot on the road and tell the wife that one's been wrecked. If they're replacing the frame this shouldn't be a problem unless they re-install something that got bent and wasn't obvious, like an a-arm or spindle. If it doesn't go down the road straight take it back until it does or tell the insurance company to stop payment until it does, since they insisted on repairing it. Good luck!

DarnEFNET,
You might want to start with the new truck checklist from F-D.com, FAQ's and cut it down to what works for you. It may turn into a long drawn out process, but you are likely to have the truck for a while and are obviuosly concerend about it's Safety and Quality.

Hope this helps.

Well things are not going well with the truck repair. It was originally supposed to be done Oct 22nd, then Oct 31, today I call and they say next friday. That will make it 7 weeks in the shop, it appears they tore the truck down and still havnt put it back together, This shop was the recommended shop by my Ins. compnay. Today I filed a complaint since now the rental car is coming out of my pocket. I guess now I will see if that helps. I have the means to go out tomorrow and just buy another truck, but I dont want to make 2 truck payments, especially if I cant even drive one. Anyone else run into a shop taking much longer then they say it would?
Darn:
Hang in there. My 6 week old 2000 did 4 360's on the freeway after getting tapped on the right rear fender at 75 mph. She was in the shop for 5 weeks so I know your pain. As much as you want to kill 'em, just be cool because they will do a better job - they get held up if a part isn't in, etc. Mine came out as good as new, although I did have far less damage than you. Do NOT pay for the rental car - that is bull!

If you took the truck to your insurance's approved repair shop, then the rental car is not your concern. The shop and the insurance will work out the difference. Just tell them you are not paying. Be blunt, but not rude.
I know it hurts, but do you have any wreck pics of your new baby? Sorry to hear about your luck. I have a family member that had a small wreckin a 3 week old Civic and did $6000 worth of damage. That was on Sept 18th. They still haven't put it back together yet. Talk about s***ty.

Glad you weren't hurt, that just goes to show you how good those rigs are made.
I wrecked my baby about 10 years ago, a 1986 ford turbo-bird. Hit some black ice in broad daylight and it went right into a tree. Totalled it. I got a bump on the leg and my sense knocked out of me. Ugh.
Agree with you selling the old one.
Say, my in-laws are in oklahoma, and we will be there for xmas. I cant find a rig I want around here, any suggestions for good dealers there in okc??? I might drive one home if I can find one.
I heard Stevens Ford in Enid is pretty good, any opinions on them???
