Synthetic oil clarification
Did using the synthetic oil void the warranty?
How is the Pennzoil brand compared to the others?
The synthetic oil labels say to change every 3000 miles (Mobil 1 and Pennzoil). Will the oil hold up to 10000 mile changes?
Has anyone done the oil test on their syntheic oil after 10000 miles? What was the wear like?
I e-mailed Ford but it took them 1 month to answer my last question about a problem with their site. Can't register F150 supercrews.

Using synthetic oil in your truck will not void the warranty. Using the wrong weight certainly can though! Ford has refused warranty work once they found out the owner used 10W-30 instead of the required 5W-30 (posted by several members in the past).
I use Mobil 1 and still change it at 3,000 miles...since it is still under warranty. I don't think Mobil 1 is designed to go 10,000 miles...others are though.

Technical properties of Pennzoil w/pennzane.
5w30
Viscosity@ 100C=9.87
pour point= -54C
Viscosity index= 159
HT/Hs Viscosity= 3.05
NOACK Volitlity= 6.9%
This is the data that I have on it. If you want to compare it go to this site and compare the numbers: http://amsoil.com/products/asl.html
The pennzoil stuff compares pretty well to the amsoil stuff and is actually better in some of the catagories, though I would like to know the TBN of the pennz stuff to get an idea of extended drain capabilities
Here are some sites to check out: http://www.pennzoil.com/prdsmktg/pro...tic/index.html

I would say that 10,000 mile changes are probably possible with this oil, seems to compare well with mobil and amsoil.
One thing that worries me is that since they only claim to the 3,000 mile change I don't don't what type and how much addtives are in the oil to go that long. I would be interested to see an analysis on it.
Note. If you plan to do 10k changes get an analysis done at say 5k just to be sure.
Also make sure you use a top quality filter and that your air filter is a good one too.
All of those have direct bering on how well your oil performs and how long it will last.

BTW,
Synthetic oil will not void your warrenty as long as it meets the API spec(API SJ) for your engine and is of the proper weight(5w30) you are good to go.
Also note the pennzoil stuff exceeds the GM 4718(Corvette synthetic-mobil1) spec.
