How do I get my spark plugs out of a 97 4.6?
Hi guys,
Well i know somebody has done it!! lol I was looking at that tight fit in the rear by the firewall its knuckle city. Ok first what size is the spark plug socket ? looks like you really need the rubber gromit so not to loose the plug. Do you use a bunch of 4 inch drive extentions? who besies ford makes high preformance wires?

just got done changing the spark plugs in my 97 and wires and added a jacobs ignition box. changing the plugs really isn't that bad, i used a 3/8 drive 8" and 4" extension, a 5/8 plug socket with the rubber removed. the hardest part is removing and reseating the plug wires. on the back pass. side you'll need to put the 8" ex with the socket down the hole and add the other ex after. on the driver side i removed the power steering bracket and the air tube, and all those plugs point right at you. i used a magnet to pick up the plugs and put them back in the hole. i used Jacobs plug wires, they are larger than stock. hope this helps.

ddhotshot,
I did the same as nytling92. Pulled the old plugs and put in a Jacobs system. I used a socket with the rubber gromit to get the plugs out then one without the gromit to put them back in. The gromit holds on too tight and the plugs are so far down in the hole you can't get the socket off. Worst part of the whole change was removing the old wires. Had to do it twice (used the wrong plugs with the Jacobs unit). Did the second change in about 45 mins.
