Post 5.4 Head leak

I dropped my 99 off for the head oil leak. The old gasket is flat out too small to properly seal the head to the block. The new gasket is about 1/4" longer than the original. Should get the truck back this afternoon. Also, my mechanic asked me what type of gas I had been running in it as the valves looked a bit crusty. I have always ran standard 87-89 octance as the manual calls for. Anyone else experienced this problem, and what can I do to prevent this. He recommended a fuel system service to clean the entire system?!?

my '99 truck is still at the shop right now getting the motor replaced i am hoping to get it back some time next week

i am not sure on your fuel problem, but i haven't heard of the gaskets being to small on the '99 motors. I have heard that the block is messed up which is what is causing the oil leak
