finally getting my engine replaced 30k with a ping that cant be fixed (they say its a knock, not a ping) they said it will be a new 2000 engine for my 99, but how can I tell for sure before they put it in the truck? Help me out guys, I want to hold them accountable here! any other advice for me in this process would be great.

 

well i am in the process of getting a new motor for my '99 truck. i have 26000 miles and have the passenger side oil leak. the service guy that i am dealing with told me that ford will not pay for a new motor after 12000 miles, anything after that you get a ford remanufactured engine

Yep, it will be an FQR engine. The service guys use the term "new engine" loosely. When you actually talk to someone who knows exactly what is going in your truck, they will tell you it's a remanufactured engine. I am getting one put in my 99 with 20,000 miles, anything after 12mo/12k gets FQR.

I haven't found out yet how to tell the difference; there must be some sort of marking on it?
