Post 98 5.4 vs 97 4.6

I'm looking at 2 used F150s and would like to solicit your opinions on which is the better buy:

97 F150 Lariat s/c, 4x4, AT, 78K, offroad, towpkg, 3.55 axle, 4.6L @ $16.5K (I've seen/drove it -- very clean, well maintained)

98 F150 Lariat s/c, 4x4, AT, 87K, offroad, towpgk, 3.55 limited slip, 5.4L, 100K transferable warranty @ $15.9K (Plan to see/drive tomorrow)

Assuming my test drive of the 98 is positive, any opinions on which to consider? the 98 is asking price; the 97 is my offer price.

I would opt for the 98 w/warranty.

Drive the 98 when it's cold (Morning) and listen for Piston Slap and look for door cracks on both. All things equal (other than the 9K mileage diff) go with the 98 w/ 5.4L and warranty at the lower price. No brainer if no slap. Good luck.
