After Market Warranty
After Market Warranty
Since I have had engine and other related problems with my 99 4x4...I am wondering if any of you guys and gals out there can steer me toward a good aftermarket warranty plan...I have 30k on my truck and really don't want to have to trade for another vehicle so I need something to keep this one alive...So if any of you can lend a hand I would appreciate it very much...Please forward me any links or information you may have
Thanks in advance...

I would look very carefully at any of the aftermarket extended warranties. Based upon my personal experience and what I have seen from others, they are seldom worth having. Most (not all I am sure) are pro-rated. The only one that I have ever had paid only 50% of an air condition compressor replacement and that only after 6 months of haggling with them. The dealerships that I have asked about them all told me that they have major problems with them and won't accept them as payment. I would look at the extended warranties from Ford. There was some mention on one of the boards a few weeks ago about where to get one online from Ford. I think it was one of the Texas dealers. Just my opinion.

Don't go aftermarket!
Hey there-
Although I work in law enforcement now, I spent several years in the car / truck business (sales and finance). My experience with customers coming into the service drive with warranties from Crazy Achmed's Warranty Service or some other highly reputable firm has been very negative. Those companys are just cheap insurance firms, and will do anything to reject your claim (you were racing it, you were beating it, you have two legs, etc).
Keep in mind that Ford also contracts out it's ESP plans, but it enforces fair practices, and tries to keep a good name. A good 60,000 mile plan for 4 years will run you $600. Don't pay more- the MSRP of a plan like this is $1000+, but this is HIGHLY NEGOTIABLE with the finance manager! Call around, and don't be afraid to walk away and see what happens.
Good luck...

just my 2 cents
Hi,
Some time ago I was on the market looking for the same thing. For another car though
What I found was that there can be two different options/procedures how a car shop places the claim to ESP company and how the ESP pays to the car shop. I can be missing some details here but approach is correct.
1. The car shop sends the claim to the policyholder and after the ESP company agrees on what should be fixed the ESP company sends a check or something to the shop. It takes forever for the shop to get the money in that case and most of the shops will reject accepting such an "insurance".
2. In that case instead of sending the check to the shop the ESP company pays by corporate credit card (MasterCard). In that case the shop will get the money fast, like in 10 days... Most of the shops will gladly take you in…
What I found was almost all cheap ESP follow the first path... and some of quite expensive ESPs use the second...
Conclusion - I found it doesn't worth it....

I bought one of these after I discovered what the dealership wanted for theirs. I have been very satisfied with the service thus far. Autoextendedwarranty.com(800-544-1465) is where I found them. I paid 1057.00 for a 7yr 100k bumper to bumper with no deductable. Only catch is your truck must have below 36k on it to get this one. If you never use it, then at the end of 7yrs you get the money back. I've already used mine so its a mute point for me. I was apprehensive at first as well, but I'm glad I did now. They replaced my rack & pinion with no hassle whatsoever. Be careful to select one which will pay the dealership with a corp credit card right over the phone, the others you front the initial bill and they reimburse you later.
warrentybynet.com has a good plan, they pay with a corp. credit card, and they list what is NOT covered. If it is not on the list, it is covered. I have yet to make a claim, so I can't speak on the process, but from what I have gathered (and as stated above) when paying by corp. credit card it is not a problem to get a shop to take the plan.
