OK,

I bought the K&N toothpick today (FIPK) from a local speed shop. Took about an hour to install, but I cleaned the throttle body while I was in there. Fit and finish was nice. Battery was disconnected for about 2 hours. Restarted fine, drove great, really compliments the magnaflow true duals. Off idle torque has inproved mid range picked up a little, and now when it winds up it pulls great. I went through several start ups with no problems, test drives included. Remember these are 308 gears with .275 dunlops with an automatic tranny. BUT.....after an off idle PUNCH in park, just for the sound of it, the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT came on. Talk about kinking a chubby. I'm hoping that it is just a lil oil on the MAF. Will pop the filter an clean the sensor tommorrow. Gotta get it right before the superchip and the 410 gears. Any ideas or recommendations?

Couple things I'd think of adding to the mod list is underdrive pulleys and complete MAF rather than just an air box. Know with the Lightning's, the MAF made a big difference to the performance.

Cheers

Thumbs up

HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Check engine light is GONE. Simple cleaning of the MAF, Temp Sensor, and Throttle body. OH YEAH, it helps to plug up the air temp sensor.....DUHHHHH

She runs great, smooth idle, crisp torque, and loves to wind up now. Thanks for all the help and ideas. The package works so well I put one on the wifes 96 SVT Cobra.

Now if I can just sneak that motor in my 150.... ;-}~~

Need help. Many of you mention the WMS Velocity Tube. I went to www.wmsracing.com but the site was not accessible.

If I read the postings correctly, this "tube" attaches to the throttle body (on one side) and attaches to the stock airbox on the other (in other words, replaces the 90 degree elbow).

I need this piece. I have modified my stock air box but would like to replace the restrictive "elbow" piece.

If anyone can provide me with price, picture of the tube, etc. it would be greatly appreciated.

Higiman!

WMS (Western Motor Sports Inc) is located in Calgary, Alberta (Canada) and is just down the street from me!

The gentlemen you want to talk to is Namala. the phone number for WMS is(403)243-6205.

Yes the elbow (Comes in black or silver) attaches on one end to the throttle body and the other end attaches to the air cleaner.

I paid $125.00 canadian $$ for the kit and install was about 1hr. The guys at WMS are great to talk to and know just about everything there is to know about Ford motors and suspensions (performance goodies Of Course!).

If you have a hard time getting the info required...send me an e-mail and I can help you out!

Higiman...

The WMS fresh air kit includes everything from the throttle body adapters, snorkel tube and all of the misc sensor adapters over to the aircleaner, and from the aircleaner into the fender for the fresh air intake.

This kit allows you to hook right into the stock aircleaner housing...so this means you can either run a stock aircleaner "like I do" or go with a K&N replacement...I am not sold on K&N products yet...stock elements clean better I think!

Hope this helps you out...and as soon as I get a digital camera I will submit pictures of the WMS intake, Owen running boards and the rest of my Screw!

Thanks for the info.

So let me see if I understand the part that connects to the air cleaner assembly. Does it utilize the entire "factory air box" from the air cleaner hosing to the flex pipe that contains the air temp sensor and MAF sensor?

If you have a picture of this, can you please email it to me. My email address is higiman@earthlink.net

Thanks again for your help.

Cool

I purchased a k&n from a place called Ramchargers Auotomotive Center in Waterford MI (248)673-3400 for $199.99 out the door. A friend of mine picked it up for me so there was no shipping charge. Went on fairly easy.Noticed incredible horse power gain on first run, but after a couple of days I lost about half of the gain because the factory computer reprogrammed itself.(Waiting for Hypertech programmer for 2000 f-150 but won't be available until 1rst of year.)So now the computer is overcompensating with fuel because of increase in air causing the engine to burn rich.I'm getting soot in tail pipe.I did drive another 2000 without k&n and noticed the differance immediately

I forget to mention something, when I was installing the K&N.There was a lot of debries in the tube.Looked like ground plastic, probabely from when they cleaned it up after molding. So I washed it with soap and water.I found it by accident,so just be aware.

If you are looking for used parts off wrecked vehicles, check this link: http://www.copartfinder.com

One engine mod that no one has mention is an electric fan. This will free up about 10-15hp. Also you can expect about 1-3mpg better from it.

You can get a Mark7 fan from Houston Motorsports for $99, then a variflow controller for $95.
