I have to agree with Shifter on this one. Flush kits are cheap, easy, and work. It's a good way to make sure all the old stuff is out.

Yeah, I think the factory mounts the vehicles on a large table that they can then turn upside down, right to left, and front to back. That gets all those nasty little air bubbles out!
You really should get a grip on reality. Everyone knows that the authorized coolant change equipment doesn't tilt. It's much more like a paint shaker!

Shifter, Selva,

Yeah, I did my for years very similarly but maybe I'm making too much out of these new vehicles than necessary.

By the way, can one of you tell me, from underneath the vehicle, which way the pet**** turns to open it (CW or CCW)? Hate like hell to be leanin' on it only to find out it's the other way or break it off .....

Selva, good point and I'll be sure to do that.

Selva,

How did you get the shop manual and cost?

I agree that the layman (us) will never get all the coolant on a routine driveway antifreeze change but getting only half (+/-) seems like a lot of the old stuff left over. I also looked at that upper hose with the bypass to the overflow tank......I don't think I would want to screw that one up ($)! I guess next year I'll let my dealer rip me off to do it ........

Dunbarton:
If you do take it to a dealer, get a guarantee that they will replace all the coolant. Most only do the radiator drain and fill anyway, so you won't be any better off than if you did it once a year yourself, just a little lighter in the wallet.
