Lightbulb My .02 on open air box FIPK's

I hate to rehash this whole debate, but it seems my '99 has got a major kick in the *** lately. Why you ask?? Well its been really cool this past week up here in CT (50's)and the truck is pulling much harder than it ever did. I have made no mods to it in awhile so its gotta be the cool air. I really dont see how an open airbox sucking all that hot air from under the hood is doing any good. I have also noticed on my bike, although it is carburated, that it seems to run much better in cooler weather. Maybe Im drunk, but a noticable increase has got to be at least 10-15 hp. Any thoughts???

The temp in Albuquerque just went down
to about 60 and it does feel like it has 10
or 15 horsepower than it did just a day ago. I do have a open fipk and it doesn't seem to make a difference. It runs just as
well when it is cool outside as when it had the factory setup. The cool air gets under the hood too.

98Screamer: Well, because you noticed no difference between factory and K&N when it was hot proves his point. You did have more air entering the engine, but it was hotter, therefore no gain. Now you have more air and its cool. And you said it feels like 10-15 hp gain. Seems to go along with the hot air robbing HP camp.
