Valve Rattle Cured
After seven trips and one phone call to Ford I believe that my valve rattle is cured (keeping my fingers crossed). The dealership changed the Mass Air Flow sensor, all the EGR related parts (including hoses) and a heater hose. It has been four weeks and not a single rattle, shake or squeak. When they changed the EGR valve and hoses they were all full of carbon. This helped the rattle but didn't cure it. The Mass Air Flow sensor seemed to be the problem. After it was installed they reset the computer and it still had a slight rattle. After driving the vehicle for three or four days the rattle went away completely. Maybe they have solved the problem. The service manager said that some of the 4.6L have a slight rattle that is octane related, even if you use 91-93 octane. But I have been using 87 octane since the last trip to the dealership and everything seems to be okay. Maybe this info will help some of you guys with the same problem.
