I noticed i had a leak in my tranny so i degreased it and cleaned it to a brilliant new shine, so that i could identify the location of the leak. When i went drive around to get the tranny dry and get the oil to leak i noticed an extremely incredable amount of pickup i gained. I was stunned! I guess by cleaning the transmission and removing the 10 pounds of brick like oil/mud concrete stuff that was cooked to my tranny, i lowered the tranny and engine temp and acheived "MAYBE" more horsepower..I dont know? It was just a dramatic increase in overall pickup. Its been a week since cleaning my tranny and it still leaks but the important thing is that my truck is still performing amazingly. I know it sounds stupid, and i would have posted this in the transmission thread but I figured the power increase subject was more suitable for the engine forum.

There was a car wash in Detroit in the late 40's and fifties, Jax, I believe it was, had billboards all over town that said 'A clean car rides better'. Some truth to that, I suppose.

 

are notorioulsly unreliable. Put in synthetic... feel 50 more HP... put in a K&N filter... feel 50 more HP... I'm sure the ole butt dyno would find at least 20 horses with a clean tranny!
