Thumbs up Cleaning MAF Sensor Seems To Cure Pinging

A while back, someone on this board suggested that cleaning the MAF filaments would clean up the incessant pinging in the 4.6. Three weeks ago I did mine using cotton swabs soaked with windex. The filaments definately had some dirt on them. Thankfully this simple procedure seems to have eliminated the problem. My truck used to ping winter or summer. It was more noticable depending on the brand of fuel I was using at the time. I had the least trouble with 91 octane. Now I have used 3 diferent brands of 87 octane this month and have ran my truck up some very steep grades at full throttle without the slightest hint of pinging. I never would of guessed that something that simple would do the trick, but the ping seems to be gone. I guess my addiction to this site seems to have paid off again.
