Thumbs down AC NOT WORKING....ANYONE ELSE?

Hey everyone. Well, My Air Conditioning is on it's way out for the second time, and I;m wondering if anyone else has had this problem. The darn thing has never cooled well. After taking it in for service the first time, they said the entire AC system had basically exploded, leaving metal pieces everywhere. They had to flush the engine out and put a whole new cooling system in. Now, 3 weeks later, it's doing the same thing...any input?

I don't know what is wrong with your ac, but you may want to put it under "HVAC" you may get a better response there. Your AC has nothing to do with your engine. There is no reason for them to flush your engine. The only connection between the ac and the engine is a belt, so there is no way any thing from your ac is going to get in your engine.

Did they say any thing about a compressor?

If they just replaced everything and it quite cooling there may be a leak, take it back to the dealer.

I had the same problem, I could not find anyone that could help me without the usual rundown, (Vacum leak, bad compressor, freon leak etc...). The problem ended up being a "Low Pressure Switch" it is located on top of the A/C cylinder next to the battery (you will have to remove the plastic terminal cover, it just clips off). It is not the electrial wiring, but the plug this plugs into affixed to the cilinder. To remove it simply grab a wrench and loosen the nut at the bottom and replace, it costs $12.50 at the dealership. Be careful when you remove this switch freon starts coming out, so have the new switch handy to install quickly, you should not loose that much freon. You can actually test the switch by removing the electrical plug and shorting it with a paperclip, just touch both sides with the clip and you should have a/c, let me know what happens.

He is still under warranty, let him take it back and get them to fix it.
