Angry Smell of Oil

Some time ago, someone posted info
on this problem. Can someone provide
me with this information? How
did your Ford dealer resolve this problem?

I can smell burning oil coming from the
passenger side engine compartment.

Scottmc-
Well I had the same problem with the smell of oil, and took it to my buddies work, where I went down in the pit at his work, and confirmed for myself that there was an oil leak on the passenger side, as it was running down the bell housing. That was when my truck had 18,000 miles on it...they ended up tearing apart the engine on the passenger side, and rebuilding just that side, by replacing the head gasket. Well at 24,000 miles, that rebuild started to leak as well, even though I was told that it would never leak as long as I owned the truck. Well I remebered what the guy at the dealership told me, and he agreed that it shouldn't have leaked, I was shocked when he agreed with me. Well they were going to rebuild it agian, and I told them that I wouldn't allow them to do that, and that they were going to drop in a new engine. They called and ran around with Ford about it, and ended up getting a complete block from Ford to replace my 5.4L that was leaking. I now have almost 1400 miles on the new engine, and it is running strong and has more power than before.
I was also told by a Ford mechanic that if you go to the dealership with the leak (oil) and also complain of a cold engine knock on start-up that they are going to replace the engine with out questions asked. I did that, and also complained of a rough idle, and low and behold, I got the new enigne, and hoping now that I don't have problems with this engine now. Hope that this helps you out, and good luck when you go to the dealership, don't let them jerk you around, take the reigns and lead them in the direction of a new engine......
