Question Oil Testing

Does anyone have a line on where to get a sample of oil tested? Prices?

I would like to have mine tested at my next change. If it's not cost prohibative. Then replace my K&N air filter with the stock unit and test again at the next change.

I've become curious enough to see for myself if there is any validity to the "K&N=more wear" debate.

It will take some time to get the final results. I don't put alot of miles on the truck. But at least I'll know for sure. And of course, when I do get the results I'll post them here.

98fword,

msparks has got the answer, I use the packets that he sells and I find the information that I get back is all I need to determine that status of my engine oil/condition.

K&N's have been proven to let more dirt get by as a consequence of allowing more air, so you should see a higher silicon content (classic indicator of dirt contamination, or your oil uses this as an additive. The best oils don't) as you go along.

And for $15 a pop, talk about a CHEAP way to find out what's up.

Randy
