Unhappy Raced a 2002 Dodge...

2002 Dodge VS 2001 Super-Crew. Both crew cabs, 4x4. The dodge has 3.73 gears, I got the 3.55's. Dodge has the stock 5.9, I have the 5.4 with Airiad and a superchip.

Well folks, I lost. He got me by about a length right out of the hole. By 65 MPH i was catching him but that was fast enough for the road we were on.

The worst part is that this guy is the ****iest person you ever met, I am never going to hear the end of it. The funny part is that I drove his truck last week and it felt slower than my truck.

Put some 3.73's in your truck....and the result should be different.

I have a 2001 SuperCrew 5.4 too, and as you can see by my mods I'm producing alot more power through the whole power banned. I added each mod separately and can say there are mods that will beat the pants of the Dudge 5.9. The next mod I would make is a good cat-back ehaust that gives your truck low-end power off the line; I recommend the Magnaflow, great performance, looks and sound. If that isn't enough go with a shift kit, like the TransGo Performance Shift Kit for the ADOE/4R70W transmission. This was a HUGE mod for shifting through the gears; if you decide to go with it make sure you go with the first of three setting. This is a good mod for the overall health of the transmission too.

I am not a racer, not what I bought the truck for, but if I decide to race, it will be at a track where it's safer!

dodges dont have 3.73 gears, its either 3.55 or 3.92's. And the reason he beat you outta the hole is because the 5.9 produces more tourque in the lower rpms than the 5.4 (no offense, but its the truth)

Your right about the gears, I checked with him today. The other mistake I made was leaving it in 4x4, he was in 2 wheel drive. It looked slippery but he didn't spin at all he said. We will try again another day.

racing in 4x4??

Dude, there's no way that a dodge will leave a ford, unless you were racing in 4x4. I have pulled along side many of the new crew cab 4x4's and none have been able to keep up with mine. Maybe you should try again, this time it 2wd mode.

Have you heard of the Tornado, or of any one who has put one on an F150? It installs by your air cleaner and twirls the air to increase the air flow into the intake manifold.

Cool

HI!... The 5.4 makes more TORQUE than the 5.9 and at a lower RPM. The 5.4 also make more H.P. The 5.4 makes 350FT/LBS at 2300RPM and 260H.P. You should be close to 290-300H.P (flywheel) with the mods you have. We used to have a guy here in town with a DODGE STS, with exhaust, hedders, MSD, air intake, Mopar performance computer. I raced him with my truck from a dead stop 3 times. I destroyed him! Everytime we ran I pulled him about 1.5 trucks right out of the hole and kept pulling on him the whole time. By about 115MPH, I had about 12 - 15 truck lengths on him! What a joke. He doeas'nt talk smack about my truck anymore. Now I talk smack about his!LOL!

Race him again in 4x3 mode and you'll spank his bootie.

In 4x4 mode, there's a lot of extra drag on the driveline. It's almost like there's an extra 500 lbs in the truck when it's engaged.

ok well you may be right neal, im not sure on the stock 5.4 numbers so im gonna take your word for it. But, at any rate it will be nice to see the 5.7 Hemi in our trucks with 330hp/375lbs

Doesnt really matter to me though, cause my next truck will be a 3/4 to with the torque monster cummins

Beat by a Dodge?

All I know is that I have raced 3 different 2002 Dodges and beat the snot out of all of them and they had the 5.9 to my 5.4 so you are definatly doing something wrong, no offense or he is'nt stock keep trying and good luck

my 2 cents...

At 60-65 mph you are only about half (+/-) way through a quarter mile run. If you were gaining on him you would have probably caught him in a quarter mile!
