Question throttle body linkage

I just noticed while I was playing under the hood how loose the linkage for the throttle body is. My question is, if I tightened it up some, would it increase my throttle performance at all? I know this may sound crazy and it probably is, but I'm just wondering. Thanks for any help anyone may have.

Cool

Check if the throttle opens up all the way when the pedal is to the floor. I removed the slack also. This does not sound crazy.

Thank you so much for your reply and not making me feel stupid. I didn't know if it sounded crazy or not, and I appreciate your kindness. So if the pedal is floored and it isn't open all the way remove the slack? But one question, how do you adjust or remove the slack? Thanks for any future help.

Your signature does not give a vehicle description. On my application there is not a adjustment sleeve on the cable. Rather than bending the throttle body/cable bracket etc., I removed the slack at the pedal. I took a small brass nut, cut 1 slit across it, put it over the cable, and crushed it closed (I know that sounds weird; There are many ways to accomplish this depending on desired length, etc.). It needs enough slack as to not change throttle when closed though.

Max Mitchell is correct. I saw this on my truck about a year ago. I placed a bolt with a couple of washer and a nut over the the throttle cable just ahead of the gas peddle. It took all the slack out of the linkage. Now when I touch the pedal there is instant response. It took a couple of days to get used to it since reaction time is better.
