Ok, just finished the second tank full TRYING to not get into the right peddle too much. I can say for sure I am getting at least 10% better mileage. Since changing my tires from 235/16 to 265/17 my milage per tank has been about 290. Its actually more since the speedo is off. The last two tanks have given me 322 and 325 before the red "low fuel" light came one. I have not gotten over 300 since changing the tires. Also I have to admitt that even on these tanks, I've gotten into the throttle more then once.

I still don;t understand. Where/what does the jacobs get hooked to , compared to what the accel does.

The Jacobs unit connects this way: Power to the unit is supplied by the vehicles battery. Each coil pack cable coming off the unit has two plugs. One plug connects to the plug that would normally connect to the coil pack. the other plug connects to the coil pack itself. Jacobs unit supplies a hotter, multiple spark over more degrees of crankshaft rotation than the stock unit. The Accel coil pack should make that spark even hotter. Will let everyone know results...Mark

DS69, where did you get the Accel unit from and how much damage$$$?

I'm really considering the Jacobs unit. I just realized that over each plug there is a factory cogswell cog, or spacely sprocket
and there appears to be no coil.

Money saved??

Powerlifter,

Those Cogswell Cog's are coils, one for each cylinder.
By the way, if you get that thing flying, say hi to George for me...

Question

WLF and Doorslammer,
where do you have your Jacobs installed? About the only place I can find to fit it is behind the grill like they suggest. I am soon going to a place where it is very hot, and don't want to cover up the radiator any more than I have to. Thanks

Jacobs Gas Milage-I just arrived in Texas from Florida and have some gas milage figures since the Jacobs install. On the first tank, which included about 45 minutes of city driving, I got 17.7mpg driving around 75mph no cruise control. This also included dusting a Mercedes ML 320 from a light. The second tank was a "Cannon Ball Run" with speeds of 95+ and rarely slower than 80mph. This was a fast crowd in a hurry! Anyway I got 16.9 on that tank. The last tank I got a reading on was on the freeway at 75 mph with cruise control on and I got 18.5! I feel the claim of 10% fuel milage increase is a very solid claim and the truck performed flawlessly all the way. I hope this info is of use to those thinking about upgrading you ignition systems in the future.

Just curious as to the spark plug gap that everyone used??? And by the way you can mount the DIS computer where the Windshield washer resivour is. Just remove the resivour, and mout it to the front side of the engine compartment.

I actually put mine on top of the fan shroud on the right (passenger) side with two of the mounting holes using the push thru connectors that hold the cover on. The third hole was drilled thru just over and forward of the fan itself. The 4th hole is in the air and now being held with a bracket I made that connects back to the fan shroud. This position puts it up where it can be seen and it is a cooler place then next to the radiator. I too continue to get better milage and strong pulling especially under mid rpm, high torque conditions (like passing and towing).
