Hope you get it running. Your message asking if my milage DROPPED keyed me something was wrong. Since the orriginal problem (which I now know was my fault) mine has been running strong. I can really feel an improvement in the way it is running. I am now trying to run a couple of tank fulls with an easy foot to see about the mileage. Keep the faith and keep me informed...

WLF: Took out Jacobs DIS this afternoon, just a few minutes ago, (piece of cake). Will send it back to Summit (1st day air) tomorrow morning. Am ordering Accel coil packs tomorrow from Keystone, (wholesale). Will keep you updated. Also, am changing plugs before Jacobs returns. CAN'T WAIT TO GET IT BACK!!!!!!!!!!

 

WLF: It's now Monday evenig & my defunct Jacobs DIS is now winging it's way to Akron/Summit. Malone promised an order would be sent to Jacobs for replacement immediately upon receipt of the failed unit. I should have the new one back in my truck on Friday. Nonetheless, I'll be calling Malone at Summit tomorrow to follow up. Stay tuned for the next chapter in this ignition soap-opera.....Mark

 

WLF: Forgot to mention that Accel coil packs have been ordered from Keystone & should be in early next week. Will report results.

WLF: Got Summit "didn't get his name" on th phone just after noon today. The person said ok I have it here on the computer & I have to see if Jacobs has this unit in stock. I replied, "they usually do." He said he'd call them to confirm, place the order, & then asked me for a phone number so he could call me back. I stsated that I'd like to hold while he called Jacobs. He then said, "your'e not being very cooperative, Mr Breznay." I said it's not a matter of being cooperative but that I wanted my order confirmed while I wait. He then put me on hold for a couple of minutes. When he came back on the line he said Jacobs has product in stock but wouldn't ship today, "what a surprise." I asked if it's being shipped 2nd day air7 he replied yes. I asked when I could obtain a tracking # & he said tomorrow evening. I then went on to explain that I wanted to hold because I'm very hard to reach by phone & that I wasn't trying to give anyone a hard time. He just gave me an attitude, so tomorrow I'm going to call Summit & ask to speak with a supervisor & let him/her have it about this guy. "He should work for Jacobs, instead of Summit." Nonetheless, I should be re-Jabobized by Friday afternoon. Stay tuned for the next chapter.

 

Pisses me off when they have my money and act like I am a problem because I want the product I paid for. If it was his three bills on the line he would be crying in his pillow...

I too bought my DIS direct from Jacobs (I paid $500), but when I called them back threatning to return it (there is a 30 day no fault return policy) they refunded the difference to my credit card. Remember you purchased the complete kit not just the ignition module. The complete kit retails for $375 at Summett.

I JUST RECENTLY PURCHASED THE DIS 4.6 DIRECTLY FROM JACOBS FOR $450 (ON THEIR 3 MONTH PAYMENT PLAN-NO EXTRA CHARGE). I WISH I HAD COME TO THE MB'S BEFORE HAND....THEN I WOULD HAVE GONE THROUGH SUMMIT.
DURING THE INSTALL I WASTED A GOOD (ADDITIONAL) TWO HOURS OF TIME MESSING WITH SWAPPING OUT THE WIRES. TURNS OUT THAT JACOBS SENT TWO WIRES THAT WERE THE WRONG LENGTH. SO I HAVE YET TO FINISH THE INSTALL (COMPUTER). I'LL LET YOU KNOW HOW IT WORKS.
ONE BIG (SOAP OPERA) THING THOUGH. JACOBS CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS VERY SHORT AND UNCONCERNED WITH THEIR FAULTY SHIPMENT. THEY WERE UNABLE TO MAKE ANY REASONABLE ACCOMEDATIONS FOR THEIR IMPROPER SHIPMENT. I HAVE SINCE CONTACTED THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP TO FILE A COMPLAINT. WE WILL SEE WHAT COMES OF IT.

 

WLF: Jacobs module was shipped yesterday (14th) via 2nd day air & should be here tomorrow. Will re-install in the afternoon & be ready to rock. Hopefully, I can get one of the guys in the shop to change the plugs for me...Stay tuned...Mark

 

I have never yet had a problem w/ summit. I've ordered odds and ins for my self and my friend. So far so good.
Talk about waiting, i went to the Dr. yesterday to see if i had cooties. Of course my appt was at 4 and by 4:45 I asked how much longer. They said 30-40 mins longer. I said forget it, and i put a request to have my records pulled. Goin' to a new Dr.
I don't know who i despise more, salesman or drs.

WLF: Jacobs module arrived on schedule this morning. Installed it at lunchtime. Still haven't changed plugs yet. Will keep you & the rest of the gang posted. Accel coil packs due next Tues/Wed.

 

Do the Accell Coil Packs help with power? I would assume a hotter, maybe longer spark would burn more of the fuel and send less down the tail pipe.
