Smile Detonation......GONE!

After over a month of fighting with Kenne Bell, 3 computer chips, and about 20 cans of octane booster, my detonation problems are gone. It ended up being a bad mass airflow sensor. Replaced that and, bam, it's a whole new truck. I don't even have to run octane booster anymore.

Thanks to Mike Troyer for his input and willingness to help me with this problem.

Hi Fordman,

I'll bet the guys at Kenne-Bell are happy too, I think everyone was pulling their hair out on this one!

We all thought it was the program in your custom chip that came from Kenne-Bell, but it turned out that this was not the problem.

I know how frustrating this was for you, and how hard it must have been to have faith in your vendor during all you went through, but there's a good lesson for all to be learned here.

I'm just glad it wasn't too hard to take care of, and that this fixed it for you.

You've spent a ton of money on that truck, now you can start enjoying it!

Have fun,

Glad to hear that you got it going Fordman. Let us know what you think of it now that it is working fine. Bye the way is the Kenne Bell chip a Superchip or did you end up getting a Superchip??

It has a chip from Kenne Bell in it. It's a switch chip that I put on towing when I tow. Now the only problem is, when I tow, I get 7 MPG. I'm going to try towing in regular mode this weekend to see how that works. I'll take 7 MPG over running a $10 can of octane booster any day.
