Lightbulb The story behind Zmax

I have seen some threads about Zmax additives in the message board. I have wondered about the lubricant myself.

The other day I was at the dealership and I saw Zmax banners all over the place along with price schedules showing the use of the additive and what the costs where.

I asked the service rep about the additive and he stated they recommend it and the auto makers have no objection to it. He also stated, If used in a new vehicle the manufacturer would add an additional 20,000 Miles to the warranty. That previous statement is unconfirmed. I am only relaying what he stated.

He then stated the owner of the dealership (Sonic) and the CEO and Chairman of Sonic (Bruton Smith) own Zmax. I verified that on the internet. Speedway Motorsports (Zmax) owner Bruton Smith is also CEO of Sonic Automotive.

FYI,

I wouldnt believe a word that guy says. It says explicitly in your owners' manual that additives will void your warranty. I'd get that in writing from Ford before using any of that junk. It's a pure waste of money.

I agree. Oil changes as required is the key to longevity.

I wanted everyone to know how the second largest automotive dealership company has connections to Zmax

I actually saw an expose on Zmax, they were being investigated. Tests showed that it caused internal engine corrosion!!! Stay as far away from those guys as you can!!,,,,98

Is this stuff like Slick 50? I have used Slick 50 and it has been OK. No problems with performance or dealer warranty.

Smile

Almost all of the "performance additives" have ongoing cases with FTC, check out this link. The FTC has their hands full with the engine additive market!
See for yourself, use this search and type in oil additives

Sickening, isn't it???,,,,,98

Thumbs up

On the other hand, Redline Fuel System cleaner actually does work, surprisingly enough. It smoothed out a rough idle on my truck in half a tank. I've only been able to find it the one time, though.,,,,98

I called Moble 1 and they told me that they were in the position that they could (and would) add anything that would make their oil better. All their test have shown that none of the marketed oil additives work. They told me not to use them with their oil.
