Actually, I made a usage error, just as you misspelled "grammar" g-r-a-m-m-e-r. Thanks for pointing that out and DON'T CHANGE THE SUBJECT. You may continue.

I can certainly understand choosing an oil based on THAT, as Alaska does have an extreme climate, but in the lower forty-eight (at least in my little corner), I don't even have a need for an oil that's suitable for thirty-eight degrees below zero. I still, however, doubt ANY company will come out and say "Our product isn't as good as brand X. Thanks." That's too far fetched and makes me think it to be Amway/Amsoil propaganda. My point of the poor spelling and grammar, JK_TN, is that NO professional organization or corporate entity would represent itself to the public in such an ignorant and uneducated way, yet the cult of Amway/Amsoil would have you believe that this "data" or "information" is authentic just because they say it is. Do you understand MY point?

Well, folks, that was an interesting little diversion from the topic. However, the reason I brought this topic back on May 11 when it hadn't been active since February was to try to get an answer to my questions, which are still unanswered. They were (and I quote) as follows (and I repeat):

"The batch of FL-400Ss that I got up from the States recently says on the box that these filters now have a 'New SILICONE valve'. The text on box says: 'Motorcraft now offers special silicone components and new designs in the anti drain-back valves for oil filters. The silicone valves retain flexibility throughout the life of the filter. This ensures better oil retention in the filter and faster engine start-up lubrication.'

How new is this development? Anyone know? What about any other changes?"

So, can anybody help me with my questions? What about it Ford Techs?

I haven't a clue, the parts stores I use carry WIX, and NO, thay's not a statement meant to be taken pejoratively in regards to Motorcraft, just logistics.

I hope I can answer your question. I notice the change in the filters when I returned from a tour in Germany for 3 years. I only noticed it at first on the filters for our trucks, then I noticed the silicone valve change on the filters for my Taurus. As far as any other changes I'm not aware of any, I have used nothing but Motorcraft filters. I even went your route. I my Father inlaw ship 6 filters over to for my Taurus. Hope this helps

Certainly didn't mean to change the subject, but the term " spelling errors or poor grammar" had come up so often while following the thread I wasn't sure but that it might BE the subject. Now that I know that it isn't, I'll sit back and resume following this most informative, if not completely objective, discussion.

I'm not a user of Amsoil products, I use conventional oil in my truck with an oil pan heater to ensure the oil will flow at -50f. However on my car which because of the oil pan design does not have a heater it needs an oil that will flow at extreme low temps. That is my sole interest in an oil's ability to provide easier starts and initial protetion. Syntec does not appear to met that standard.

Doesn't Kilroy's grammar and style sound familiar to anybody else, besides me?

Dennis-
That's what my "nevermind" message was originally about. The stress on other's misspellings, recent register date, and crass comments raised the same flag with me. However the Styxx fan has a different attitude towards ESP's than our former friend from OK, so I deleted my original message.

Kilroy-please accept my suggestion without snapping. If you have something personal to say to someone, do it on e-mail. Otherwise everyone is gonna jump your ****, since this is all public. The gentleman from OK was, I believe, asked to leave for being so volatile.

If you don't like Amsoil, don't buy it. I haven't seen any scientific studies you've conducted to prove it's bad. I've used dino oil, either Quaker State or Pennzoil for 340,000 miles with a Fram filter in 3 different vehicles. Now I don't worry about it as I plan to let the dealer change it with whatever they use (Mobil?) in the Y2K F-150 I have now along with their filter. They can't very well deny me anything warranty related that way. (I have the 6yr/100K mile ESP)

Counting the folds in the filter paper tells me nothing, I want to know what the make-up of the filter is. Rather have 3 folds of quality filter material than 100 folds of Kleenex in there.

Kilroy- if you're gonna point out people's misspellings and mis-use of grammar on this board I hope you have a lot of time on your hands as every thread has these errors in it.

Just my opinions, ignore them if you don't like'em.

It's not that I don't like Amway/Amsoil products, but I get my belly full of them attacking their competition in such a negative fashion. I really don't care if anyone misspells anything, but the commonality I've noticed in this Amway/Amsoil propaganda is the circulation of these various "articles" and "memos" rife with spelling and punctuation errors. WHY is this important? Because, as I've said earlier, NO professional organization or corporate entity makes public statements in a manner befitting of trailer trash or in an EXTREMELY negative tone. THAT leads me to believe the "information" is entirely bogus. All of this makes me very suspicious of Amway/Amsoil: what's the deal with them? Their followers want to pick apart Castrol? I guess it wouldn't be a problem to answer some pointed questions, now would it? Why is it none of the other oil companies attack one another like this? Amway/Amsoil followers need to remember: people in glass houses don't throw stones. I AM SORRY we (I) diverted your topic, Shifter.
