I have read with great interest all of the discussion about which filter/oil etc. I have a simple question; Which filter (name and part #) do you use and where do you get it if you own a 97 w/5.4L engine. For example, on my truck I currently have the much maligned Fram PH2 that I usually get from the Navy exchange. I don't want to start another heated discussion just looking to make my shopping a little easier. TIA.

Use Amsoil SDF11. Order from Amsoil use cust # 399109. Call 1-800-956-5695 7-5 CDT.
Recommend you use Series 2000 0W30 synthetic, (flush first).

 

As you have probably already read, Ford is probably the best bet since it can be purchased from discount stores like Wal Mart for about $4. I really thought Fram was a good filter until reading these message boards. I have two fram filters for sale cheep. Any takers??
Just kidding, too much trouble to mail. Maybe the trash man will have use for them...

Oh and by the way, one word about oil, SYNTHETIC. That is ONLY if you love your truck and want it to last. Stick to the 5W30 that is required by FORD.
