Use 87 octane unless you have a superchip. If you get pinging then move up. I also like Texaco and have never had a fuel related problem with it.
Like selva1 posted before me, I just bend over and spred-um each time I tank up...

RandyW..

Actually I have tried a tank or two of Texaco Premium and Coastal Premium fuel...runs great with no knock and plenty of power with each. I have been using Amoco because it is supposed to be a very clean fuel and there is a brand new Amoco station near my house.

The Superchip with Amoco Premium fuel is great! Plenty of power! The chip is well worth the extra $4.00 per tank (Premium). I am going to try a couple of tanks of Citgo to see if it improves things a bit.

I have certainly noticed that my tail pipe does not produce anywhere near the same amounts of soot since I installed the Superchip.

Thumbs up

I found no difference or pinging with any 87 octane brand used. When I added a Superchip, I switched to Mike Troyer's suggestions: Texaco, Mobil, or Shell.

I'm using the cheapest I can find now. Prices are going up again everyday again. I'm gonna park the F150 and buy a TDI Beetle if this continues. I think there is something wierd going on now. Last night @ 2:30 a.m. Citgo had 87 for $1.57. This morning at 11:00 it was $1.77 for 87. About a mile down the same road, same town a Citgo had 87 for $1.57, so I bought it. Mobil, Shell and Citgo in my town are all at $1.799, $1.899, and $1.999 for 87, 89, and 93 respectively. Last week they were all $1.579 (plus $0.10 for each increase in grade) until Thurs. I thought production went up out East????

Im currently using Arco 87 due to the location...close to both home and work. Although after reading how many of you have changed brands and had an improvement, maybe i should start trying different places...

Have been using Chevron 87 for ages. It's the cheapest "name brand" gas I can get in this area. When traveling, I put the cheapest gas I can find into the rentals.

Wow!! The gas prices you guys are talking about are really high. Where do you live? I am in the Dallas, TX area and I haven't paid more than about $1.40. Right now I am paying $1.28 for 87. I usually just go to Race Track or Chevron. About 2 weeks ago I was only paying $1.17. Makes me a little bit happier about living in the scorch belt.

Well I'm paying $1.51 for 87 at an Arco AM/PM and on base (who knows what brand that is). And that's cheap for around here in Las Vegas.

I went camping towing my trailer a few weeks back and used 93, Chevron. I had 3/4 of a tank when finished towing (after a couple tanks fulls) and noticed a difference in power and it wasn't just because the trailer wasn't behind me anymore .

If prices ever go down or I get finally get that chip, I'll go to 93. I love my truck but I'm not confident with the transmission (acts a little funny although they say no error codes) so I'm staying away from the chip for now.

I ues Arco(AM/PM) because it is the cheepest and I get 1-1.5 mpg better using it. I used to use Diamond Shamrock but notice a loss of mpg. 87 octane is $1.33.9 right now.

I have tried Amoco 87, but for some strange reason my truck runs better on Racetrac 87. My truck ran worse on 93, so that's why I don't use it. By the way, I get 19 mpg, look under mileage column to find out why.

Unhappy

I use to only use Citgo Regular but due to the high gas prices and lousy gas mileage (15 mpg avg) Now I buy the the cheapest I can find.

I also full up alot more often so I don't get shocked with the price of a full tank.
