Pulleys
Pulleys
Hi,
My dad has a 99 F150 with the 5.4 and the asp pulleys,
I'm trying to put the pulleys on my truck which is a 2001 f150 with the 5.4. I remember that the kit came with a lager bolt, but I don't remember what that was for, Any help on doning the change and what all needs to be done give me a yell, Thanks

HI!... TRUE BLUE : The longer bolt that comes with the ASP POWER PULLEYS is used only as a tool to install the crank pulley. Because you can't fully press on the asp crank pulley by hand, this bolt is longer to press it on 3/4's of the way. If you tried to use the stock FORD crank bolt, it would be too short and only a few threads would be in the crank snout. If then you used a impact gun to install the ASP crank pulley, you would tear all the threads out of the crank snout. Then you would be MAJORLY "FUBAR'ed"
The longer bolt from ASP is only a tool!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Neal,
By chance would you know the size of the bolt that came in the kit, I lost the old one. Any help would be great thanks again,
And one more thing, what was the shift kit you installed that worked out ok, I remember you said that one messed up on you. What places did you buy it from and what was the part number. thanks again.

HI!... TRUE BLUE : Sorry, I looked for the installation bolt but I can't seem to find it right now. I've got so much stuff lying around my garage right now, it's not even funny. I guess starting your own performance company will do that!LOL! I'm pretty sure it's about 1 inch longer than the stock bolt. The 1ST shift kit I went with was a BAUMANN ENGINEERING kit. It was great but came with NO preasure safety bleed off and when the kit is set at a very high setting like mine was it caused me to snap my intermediate shaft clean off! After that I had a 4R70-W 'RACE tranny built and used a modified TRANSGO shift kit.
True Blue,
Here's a trick for ya and you won't need that bolt that came with the pulley. Heat up some water in a good size pot, talk the pot off the stove, and then put the pulley in the warm water. Don't boil the frigin' thing, the warm water will cause the pulley to expand and slide right on the crank snout.
