Talking You have to watch this...get ready for a suprise

Mpeg video of a drag race between a Chevy 2500HD 6.0 crew cab and a 5.0 Mustang. The camera work is shaky but it is clear who won...I was suprised.

That was BS! Whoever was driving the 5.0 didn't know how to drive, or the car was just a POS! I think someone's just jerking our chains, listed to the exhaust from the 5.0, something wasn't right.

The engine revving that you are hearing is another vehicle behind but near the camera. Listen to how loud it is...that couldnt be coming from the Mustang way down the track. It has to be another car/truck getting ready to race.

Gotta admit though that Chevy launched pretty dang fast for how big it is.

Cool

I agree with Adamski, there is NO WAY that the Chevy would beat the mustang ... even with the 6.0L !!! That is a Heavy Duty Crew Cab, Short Box truck, I weigh in at 5000 lbs with a supercab, long box. The chevy also looks like a 4x4 as well which would make it even heavier than I am. AND if that truck can beat the 5.0L mustang then you are telling me that he would be able to keep up to Neal "The HP Freak" ... I don't think so !!! Either someone didn't know how to drive the 'stang OR there was alot of stuff done to the truck, maybe even some NOS !!!! I don't even come close to catching a mustang and I have around 225 HP (estimate) with mods let alone trying to catch Neal with an estimate of 340 HP in his truck. Sorry but I don't buy it !!!!!! I would want to see it with my own eyes at a track and then see under the hoods of each vehicle. That way, you hear what each vehicle is doing and not one behind the camera or anywhere else.

Don't waste your time on this one. 5.0 Mustangs are slow. I beat them all the time, in the snow... BTW how do you know the Mustang was a 5.0? Where are the last 3 seconds of the clip?
I would like to see all the race...

Further searching on www.trucktrend.com shows the Chevy 2500 6.0L to have 325 HP and 370 lb-ft of torque. It also says that a 2500 HD, Extended Cab with 8.1L did the quarter mile in 16.2 secs. at 85.8 mph. It did the 0 - 60 mph in 8.3 secs. Hmmm ... doesn't seem like Mustang territory to me !!!! For a truck with the crew cab instead of extended and a smaller engine, the video truck would go slower than the above truck.

Hey MN4X4,
Why don't you come out of the closet and show us what that 93 cheby is really made of!
There has got to be a reason that you care not to show your town!
I think that you would like to avoid lining up that old 93 to a tryed and true BLUE OVAL!!

I can relate to this when I had my 5.0 at the track.

My first time at the track. I was anxious and blew my tires on the line. Since I was going to get a ****y time anyway. I just went down the track without hammering my car.

Since we didn't see the mustang launch in that video, that could easily have happened. I think we already have agreed that the mustang should have won easily if it was a V8.

Check it now...theres my location. I was just posting something that I came across. Take it for what its worth but dont be juvenile. If you ask me the truck probably does have nitrous...and maybe the guy driving the stang didnt know what he was doing. But you gotta admit that was an impressive launch. And 16's for a stock 8.1 heavy a$$ truck is pretty impressive. I doubt a V-10 Super Duty would even come close to that.

As I said take it for what its worth, but Im not knocking you guys...I should expect the same in return.

Oh and by the way...I would line up anyday against a Ford that is comparable to my Chevy. Give me a 93 Ford F-150 4x4 with a 351 auto and Ill show you what my Chevy is made of.

Cool

HI!... You call that a hard launch? That was probably a 2.5 60ft time! I watched the vid several times, and it looks to me like someone has slightly played with the vid speed but made sure to keep the sound at normal speed. Also to me the MUSTANG looked like a mid 80"s carburated 302. They only ran like mid to low 16's from the factory when new. If it's still stock and close to original, it probably would only run about mid 17's!LOL! Trust me I see them at the dragstrip all the time. If this guy in the CHEVY was so pround to post a vid on the net somewhere that he beat a MUSTANG, why does'nt the vid show the 1/4 times and trap speeds. It just seems odd to me that the vid cuts off just as the timer was going to post. I get a MAJOR "B/S" alert on this one.

HI!... Now that I've watched it a few more times I'm about 100% SURE that, that vid has been doctered. The CHEVY has bone stock rear tires on it and it does'nt barely spin them on that "SO CALLED" hard launch. Geez, If I ran my stock tires, and I have! I burn them right off all the way through 1st and 3/4's of the way through 2nd! Plus some other stuff seems to be moving a bit faster than it should in the back ground to me. To each his own. I just think it is a little suspicious that they did'nt show the E.T and TRAP speed. To me that would be the WHOLE point in posting that vid on the net.

Wow, that chevy did good? Well we are lead to think so any way. I would have to see some numbers before I could be impressed. I think Neal is on to something.

I run with the 4.6 and the 5-speed. I have run the quarter once. Like others I was nervous. I shifted at just over four thousand rpm through four gears. I should have brought the rpm's up more for a better time. Well I managed a 16.52 at just over 80mph. I would estimate I could shave off a second with better technique.
If my F150 can do better than 16's I would guess the Mustang would have no problems.

Like I said I would have to see some numbers.

I think I will stick with a Ford in any event! With only 4.6 liters I can get 16's at the track and 18's (mpg) at the pump.

Tom
