You have to watch this...get ready for a suprise
At last years Barrett-Jackson, they were talking to a guy that was promoting his company (Lingenfelter?), and he was saying they built up this late 90's Suburban with 800+hp I think, just because the customer(a celebrity I think) wanted to beat on some Vipers, and have his friends in the truck at the same time. It just goes to show you can build up pretty much anything you want if your willing to dish out the cash.
02XLT,
Russell has Nittos on the car. No slicks.
This motor is running so good it would be ashamed to take it out. He does plan on some aluminum heads and more mods eventually but for now he is going to enjoy it like it is. He needs to sell his 97 4.6 first too.
Both of those cars have about the same mods and the 180K+ car runs 1/2 second faster.

I sure am glad to hear the car is running good. Allot of people said I was asking to much when I sold it and that it was not worth the money. But the car was super clean and those miles were all on an AOD and 2.73's for the longest time.
I am glad to see those times at the track. I knew I could get super times if got rid of those crumy H-rated tires.
GL in the future. Maybe I will see you guys at the track in the future.

Hey LarryS
what all has your son done to the car or what did it have done before you got it. I guess what im asking is what all modifications does the car have done. Gears transmission and so on. I have a 90 LX with an AOD and 3.73s. It has some other bolt ons and i cant run anywhere near a mid 13. So if u could tell me wht alll is done to it i would appreciate it. I dont see how it runs so much better than mine exspecially with 180 thousand miles. Mine only has 120 or so.

shads302,
It's all in the 60'. He ran an 1.8? 60'.
He has a 76mm mass air, ASP underdrive pulleys, 3.55 gear, Tremex 5 speed tranny, Nittos drag radials, alumimum drive shaft. He has removed some weight. Front sway bar, spare tire and on the 13.32 run even the rear mat and a few other items.

Don't forget Shad my the car was babied when I had. All those miles are HIGHWAY miles. And the car was build pre- Feb. so it has a slightly more aggresive cam than your 90 should have stock. Good for about 5-7hp.
The car also has MAC h-pipe w/cats and american thunder catback. Steeda Tri-ax with the Tremec 3550 tranny. 3.55 gears
Your AOD is killing your power to the wheels as well. You need a higher stall converter and good shift improvement kit if you don't already have one.
It's a solid car. And light weight. LX hatchback

Well after owning 2 GT Mustangs a 302 in my 94 and the 4.6 in my 96 I can say there is no way in hell that chevy truck beat it the film had to be doctered up the only way is the Mustang had to be the 4 banger or who ever drove it didn't know how to drag race now if it was racing a Z28 or a trans am I could see the Stang get beat as they are a little faster than the Stang from the get go.
hmustang--
Not to sound rude. But did you read the rest of this thread or just watch the video and post? I think if you read the last several posts you will see what the real story was behind the video.
Take care man.

For all the doubters..............
The guy that owns the Chevy is on a couple of other sites. Nobody said it was stock. I think the run was in the 13.8 range.
He has a programmer, traction bars, pulleys, couple of others AND A 150 SHOT of NOS.
Take a look at the way the truck squats on the launch. Most stock 6.0 trucks don't do that.
Let's not all rag the guy just because it's not a Ford. I'm sure people on other sites would thinks Neils ETs are fiction, not to mention the host of very fast Lightning times from members of this site.

As a fairly new nitrous user and a frequent drag racer, I understand how the truck could have won. Nitrous really adds torque and with the four wheel drive, it had to have launched hard. I am a 5 liter Mustang nut and a high mileage AOD car only runs high to mid nines in the eighth mile. Good drivers can get basically stock GT's in the low nines. This is with a sixty foot time of 2.0-2.1 on street tires. The truck pulled 1.90's. That is an eternity on a dragstrip. That could have been someones grandma, shifting at 3000 rpm's in the Stang. And, yes the new LS1 powered twins are fast (magazines swear they run low 13's and high twelves in the quarter), but I havent been outrun yet in the eighth with my mild bolt-ons minus nitrous with one. Some guy was at our track last year in a beautiful newer Dodge 4X4 with a lift kit and 35's. It sounded cammed up, but people laughed when he pulled into the burnout box with his mud tires. He did one massive burnout and pulled up to the line. He launched hard with no wheelspin and ran a 7.99 in the eighth. Later found out he had a 500 cubic inch big block with a Dominator and raced in 4 wheel drive. Very sneaky. Bottom line is Ford rules the truck category. If Dodge is the Mayor, then Ford is the President and Chevy is the janitor.
BOY OH BOY!!
I think I should be offended!
Im a Chevy driver and a janitor (pt work while in college)! Guess Im WAY down on the totem pole huh?
Yes in that video the Mustang had a poor launch. If he had a better one he would have beat the truck. But to you naysayers...the video is real. There are people here to back it up. The guy has a damn fast truck for its size and weight...and he did it while spending very little money. That deserves some recognition and respect right?
Nuff said...I think I've wasted enough time in this thread and similar ones. I gotta study before I go scrub toilets.
