more ford wo'ss 4.6 has a quiver fuel elect????
once again the 97 f150 4.6 whats up with these trucks every problem everyone has ?? so who has this one ?? my truck started a quiver first i thought it was the tranny not able to decide if it should shift or not then it was apparent ok the fuel filter is a dead player ahhhh gota have a special tool to take that off figures .. but still got a quiver under light acceleration sometimes worse sometimes slight. put plugs in it last year about 10k ago friend said it was the throttle body was needing cleaning i did that didnt work took it to ford to get the umteen recalls checked out had them run a digonistic on it at the same time ahhhhhh no trouble codes i find that hard to beleve with 90k on it .. they said probably the torque converter is slipping hmmmmm well ford tranys do have priors so i had the tranny totally flushed but no luck runs and shifts better but it should be slipping all the time and when your on it hard i would think ?? usually when its fuel it falls on its face but its not doing that ..plug wire breaking down ?? im about ready to change to a diesel this constant crap is the pitts if its not one thing its another but she sure looks pretty
Sounds like your "quiver" was like my surging or sputter I had about two weeks ago. I could of swore a sensor or fuel pump was out or the engine was all carboned up. Finally got so bad that the check engine light came on. I broke down and bought my own tester. Code was for #3 misfire, I was like what the heck the wires, plugs, pcv, and fuel filter were changed 22K ago when thers was a misfire on cyl 4. Moral of story: Just because it was 20, 15, or even 10K ago you tuned something up ( ie: wires, plugs) do not think it's not the cause.

Check your wires. That's what my problem was with surging was the wires. Start the truck up at night with little light around and llok for crossfire on the plug wires.

It could be a wire but if a clynder is miss fireing, the check engine light would flash every once and a while, right?

Well, yes and no. I guess it just has to be at a certain threshold. I dove mine for a week with a very noticeable surging which was actually a miss before the check engine light ever came on. Come to find out all my plug wires were crossfiring against each other and it finally threw a code for a #3 misfire. Cleared the code but did change wires and problem continued but check engine light never came back on after 3 days. Went ahead and put new wires on and checked ECM again, no codes, two weeks later still no codes.
Wire arcing
Yeah, i had the same kinda shuddering problem. the tranny would take its own time to shift and would actually shift with jerks. Also, at about 40-60 mph, the truck would shudder once in a while badly as if the tranny was crappin out. After a week of driving like this, it gave me a code for cyl#1 misfire and then also cyl#6 misfire.
I then proceeded to change the plugs, wires and the coils and everything disappeared. To make it easier to diagnose, i went slow. I changed the plugs first, drove it, problem didnt disappear and then changed the coils. Still no difference. Then i changed the wires. I know it took me a couple of days but i was able to atleast find out what the truck would do if wires were bad or coils were bad.
