Unhappy fuel pump going?????

I own a 97 F-150 XLT 4*4 ext. cab with a 4.6L.
the problem I'm haveing is every time I step on the
gas it kinda "chugs" a little and then works ok, would it be the fuel pump or dirty fuel filter? I changed the filter about 2000km's ago and also how do you test the fuel pressure? My boss
has a gauge to do it but I'm not sure how to do it. Also
what should the acceptable pressure? Thanks guys!!

Fuel pumps generally go with no warning at all. What you describe sounds like a clogged filter. Even if you just changed it you don't no what kind of sediment is in the bottom of your tank that got sucked in.

Keep in mind that hesitation can be caused by other things as well. When's the last time you had a tune up?
