A/C compressor
Sorry for the off topic question for engines but I didn't get any comments under HAVC.
I have a 2000 F150 5.4 V8. The A/C compressor cycles way too often in my opinion. In normal stop and go traffic it disengages with moderate to light aceleration (less than 1500RPM). It engages when I lift my foot off the gas. Even while sitting in neutral and revving to about 1500 RPM and then releasing it will cycle off and on. This seems way too sensitive to me.
I took it to the dealer to get it checked. They said…..”That’s the way it’s suppose to work”. It's called Wide Open Throttle Circuit. Well DUH. I'm not doing WOT. I'm just taking off from a stop light! If this is the way it is suppose to operate under normal conditions then it's really going to suck in July.
I understand that there is a cutout switch and I'm ok with that but how sensitive is it? Is the sensitivity adjustable? Can I bypass cutoff switch or control it manually?
Thanks for your comments,
Craig

The A/C compressor will cycle if it is not too hot out or if your automatic clie control reached the proper temp. If it is hot out and you put the blower on max and you still get the compressor to cycle than you do not have enough R13a and the compressor pressure is dropping on the low side. If that the case you ether have a leak or a bad sensor.
