Need help on air intake
Ok, heres my situation. I have a 2k f150 with a 5.4. I no longer have any inside fender/fenderwells, and being that the stock air intake mounts to the inside fender, something has to be done. What would be my best bet? I need something like the Airaid where the intake ends before the fender, and doesnt need to be supported by the fenderwell. Which intake would be the best, I heard people complaining about a whistle when using the Airaid, how many people has experienced this? Performance gain isnt so much an issue, although i wouldnt mind it, just something that installs easy, doesnt need support from the fenderwell, and is good quality.

I like my K&N Generation II. No whistle on my 4.6 and a nice change in the throttle responce. It is supported by the engine with a bracket that comes with it. If you look at other recent post on this subject you will get other opinions. The K&N is not as pritty as some of the others but you can get a great price from CarPartsOnSale.com. I also like the gurgle that resonates from this intake.

The part of the factory air filter that goes into the fender well on the 2K 5.4 is easily removed from the air filter housing. It can breath better than factory that way as well because it is a 3" hole that way instead of the restrictive 2" hole inside the fender well. With a underhood FIPK, or the part removed, it will not breath cold air though. The K&N is the only system that is 50-state CARB ceritified that I could find. Hope this helps.
