Gas mileage
I have a 99 F150, extended cab 4x4, witht the 5.4, and 3.73s. I get about 11 mpg average per tank. On the highway i think its about 17-18 going 60. over 70 its probably like 15. Having 4wd and extended cab will lessen your MPG because it adds extra weight i figure. Lightnings get very nice gas mileage.
You have to start at the first of the month.
You siphon your neighbors gas for 30 consecutive days.
Then you steal his credit card statement out of his mailbox and see how much he bought.
Then when you see him, you tell him you're moving to a better neighborhood because there's too much crime.

As my mileage got progressively worse I figured I had a problem. So after my engine was replaced at 35640 miles, I went from 11 - 13 to 13.5 - 16 depending on how I drive. Not to mention all of the power I got back.
Good thing I have a lot of highway driving b/c when I get in the city I have a problem with my foot turning into lead.

I must say I feel very lucky with my truck. After I put 3500 miles on it I started calculating my milage. I was consistantly getting 15.5 to 16 mpg. With 75% of my driving on the highway and the rest town. Once I installed my airforce one FIPK, the headers, the chip and the Borla exhaust I am consistanty getting 17. 5 mpg. I only use Amaco fuel as well.
I took my truck to Colorado for and elk hunt and was getting right at 20 mpg, but that was all interstate driving and no stopping till time to fuel up again. Now, when I tow my 23' pontoon boat, full of gear and usually fuel, and I leave the o.d. off, I get about 12 mpg, but have no troubles pulling at all even up hills in Kentucky at a lake I frequent. I have no complaints on my fuel milage at all. If I was worried about fuel milage I would have bought a Jap truck...NOT

I have a 2002 FX4 offroad 4x4, 4.6 automatic, 3.55 gears.
I'm getting 15.25 mpg driving around town.
Highway milage depends,
If I'm driving I get 17+
my wife gets 20+
(But she reset the trip meter before I could see it for myself.)

Remember when our canadian friends post MPG's, that they are using imperial gallons and not US gallons.. This is why EX91's mpg's look fairly high compared to others here..
I average 15.5 in mixed city/highway driving..

I keep track of my mpg on my 99 F150 4x4 XLT - 5.4/355

Great highway for a full size but idling to warm up in the winter will really cut the mpg

23 MPG Freeway - 15.9 Town ...
When I go on trips I usually just pull off to refuel and I have been getting 21.6 mpg on the freeway. Then, when I put in the K&N Air Filter and bumped the pressure in my tires from 32 to 38 psi, I started getting 23.01 down the freeway.
Around town and back roads average is 15.9 mpg. I use good 87 octane fuel without Ethanol added. This is a 2wd Reg/Cab/Flareside with 4.6 /Auto/3.08 rear ratio. It has 235/70 X HR16 highway tires.
I'm planning to add an electric cooling fan, catback dual exhaust and a fiberglass lid over the bed. Hopefully these mods will bring me up another 2 mpg. I would be extremely pleased with 25 mpg.
I'll keep you informed after the mods are made.
