Where to get the best spark plug wires for the "least" money??
I had a faulty plug wire last summer, caused the engine to miss, and the check engine light to blink while it was missing. To make a long story short, took it to the dealer, spent 80 bucks finding out what was wrong, and 11 for the wire. I was then always meaning to change the whole set. Well tonight on the way home, it started to do the same old ***** as before. So rather than spend 80 bucks finding out it's a wire, I think I'll just assume it's another wire that went to hell. Now the hard part: I can't seem to find any place online that has wires for the F150. Anyone's help would be greatly appreciate. Lemme know where you got them, and a rough guestimate on price
I was just in your shoes last week
I was having a surging/bucking type problem last week and it finally threw a code. So I went ahead a bought a scanner which I have been wantingg anyways. Turned out to be #3 cyl misfire. Got to looking at night and wires were arcing all over and I just replaced them about 25K ago. I had used Xact's made by GP Sorenson carried by Advance Auto. I did some research and went ahead with the Accel super stocks (part# 5137b).
Got them for 76 a set at Jegs, I also odered 2 of the Accel coils packs at 54.99 each from Jegs. I am not sure of the fit or performance as I have not had a chance to install. I do know several on here that run them (F150 Ram Air comes to mind) and I have yet to hear anything bad.
Jacobs makes a nice set for our trucks but they run like 123, and you could probably get them from Jegs, Summit, or Performance Products.
Stay away from cheapies as you will regret it later. Some people say that the OEM Motorcraft wires are garbage, others like them a lot. IMO they are not to bad, I got 98K out of my set (to the best of my knowledge bought the truck used).
I think MSD might make some thatwill fit too. Not sure as I didn't fully check them out.
Good luck.

I don't know if they changed the design for the mod engines, but the Accel Super Stock 8mm wires that have been around forever are junk. The Accel 300+ wires are excellent, but I am yet to see a good set of Super Stock's. I even measured their resistance right out of the box, and it was worse than the old ones being replaced. My buddy, who now works at Hawaii Racing, used to have his own hi-po parts store here in town, and he let me test several new sets, and they all sucked. Admittedly, this was 5 or 6 years ago, but I haven't heard of any changes. For the price KY paid for his, I am thinking they must be different, because Super Stock wires are usually under $40 a set.

This happens everytime. I post and post and read and read to find something half way decent. Settle on something, buy it and THEN someone comes along as destroy's it all. The hell with it, I am going to try them anyways. I paid to have them shipped here, I can always turn in my old set for credit/warranty on a Motorcraft set.

You might be right. I might have got ripped but I really don't think so. I noticed that you both talked about older vehicles and the Accel wires do run around 40 a set on those engines. I know that for a fact as I sell them everyday at work. The 4.6 uses a extended style boot like what's found on many imports, and I would say this is what probably adds to the cost. If you would like to a picture of them here is one from a previous post http://www.f150online.com/forums/sho...hlight=changed
Thanks
