Question New Dodge?

Does anyone have the numbers on the new Ram? 0-60? 1/4 mile?
A friend of mine is picking his up today. Hope I can smoke him with the Super-Crew!

Thumbs up

If your Screw is a 5.4, you will have no problem beating him. Even the 5.9 360 with 3.92 gears is no match for the 5.4, I know from experience! He will also get much worse gas mileage than you.

However, I have become interested in the new Ram, as I am now going on my second 5.4 replacement, and do not wish to own this truck out of warranty. I will wait to see what they come out with for new engine choices first though. Hope my new 5.4 makes it that far.

Keep us posted on your Screw vs. Ram!

Cool

Mine is a 5.4 with a superchip and FIPK. He is getting the 5.9 with 3.92 gears and the 20" wheels. Both trucks are 4x4. He has a big mouth and it will be fun to shut it.

Dubs on a 4x4? What in the world was Dodge thinking? Maybe Steven Tyler told them it would look cool!

Talking Hells Yeah

I'm all about 20"s on a 4x4. Goodyear is now making 20" All Terrain tires and other (better imho) manufacturers are sure to follow. I guarantee there will be a demand for a selection of 20" A/Ts

Oh, i think its safe to say that it wouldn't be a real stomping by either truck. The 360 is a very potent power plant. As I recall the 5.4 produces more flywheel hp but less rear wheel hp. What gets to the ground is all that matters.

I just don't like the look of the new rams. Yukk Dodge had a good looking 1/2 ton truck going in my opinion then ruined it by making it more car like for '02. Ford did the same thing in '97. Still great trucks just don't look as good to me.

Motor Trend has the numbers:

Screw 2wd = 8.1 0-60, 16.0 1/4 mile
Scab 4wd = 8.9 0-60, 16.7 1/4 mile

16.7 vs 18.8 (4.7 motor) is a real stomping...

Guys, the dodge is a DOG:o I own a 1984 S-10 with the 2.8V6. All 110 hp infront of a 700r4 trans. Now I believe I've got me a factory freak, cause I litterally KILLED a new 02 quad cab 4x4 ram with the 4.7V8 It was fun seeing the dodge salesmans jaw drop So if my lil 110hp S-10 can do that to the Dodge, I'm sure the Crew with the 5.4 will waste it in no time.

were talking about the 5.9, not the 4.7. so you can't compare a little 4.7 to the 5.4. The same thing would be if you took the 5.9 vs the 4.6,not fair right? ahuh... Take the biggest engines in each class for both manufacturers and then see which one is faster. Now, the 4.7 engine should be compared to the 4.6. IM not trying to play favorites here like alot of people. Just try and look at it from an unbiased point of view.

The 5.4 produces somewere around 260hp. And I know the 5.9 produces about 245. But the 5.9 was dynoed by some magazine to have more rwhp than the 5.4. It would be a VERY good race. Just don't get your hopes up to high. If he is getting 3.9 gears he definately will have mechanical advantage.
