Cool

HI!... Looks like ALL SHOW and no GO to me. It looks like you would be sucking in twice the heat. Also ONE K&N filter is way plenty to supply a 5.4 or 4.6 with enough air. Why waste your money on two? That guy wants $325(U.S) for that? I thought of and designed a set-up just like that but did'nt produce it because of it's draw backs. The set-up I have now is much better and sucks in cold air from the inner fender port + has a open element. It's nice looking but I would'nt spend my $$ on it. Just my opinion.

Hi Craigrep --

I am no expert, but even if you didn't suck any more air in with this outfit you would still be doubling your air filtration without restricting air flow. Dual K&N's would be awesome. I have heard that 90% of the contaminents in your oil come from your air intake. This system might be a way to reduce the dirty air going into your engine.

Neal has a good point though. This kit might be a bit of over kill.

-- The Round One

Update...I just realized the error in my logic. Regardless of how many filters are on this system the air is still NOT being filtered any better than with one filter. Because air is still only being filtered once. The only way filtration would be improved is if the filters were in-line and then air flow would be restricted.

The price for this setup with filter is $227.85 + s/h. I spoke to MFG to confirm $. I'm new to this so... is the hot air draw really that hot and that big o' deal ?
Thanks for all your input.

Yes, cold air is important. Reason is that cold air is denser than warm air. Simply, cold air increases the volume of air avail. You take in cold air, you have increased the available air for the pistons/fuel. If you go to a drag strip, watch the times increase as the temp increases. For Nascar, the spring/fall races are always faster than the summer races.
One last example: NITROUS!!!
Believe it or not, Nitrous doesn't burn. It simply acts as a shuttle to bring in more oxygen. Think of carbon monoxide and how it displaces oxygen (and you die from not having enuff oxygen); well, nitrous acts as the exact opposite. I think i read that it shuttles 37% more oxygen than w/o it... and since everyone knows the effectiveness of Nitrous, that should illustrate the importance of oxygen and oxygen volume. (cold air= additonal oxygen volume).

This is the main reason that i haven't gone to a FIPK yet: That friggin 3 inch hole in the sidewall just doesnt give enuff fresh air to the fancy K&N filter and it ends up sucking the hot, under-hood air.

Neal, i would be GREATLY interested in hearing about your mod if it involves getting additional outside air...

Question

HI!... CRAIGREP : If the price is only $227.85(U.S), then why do they have it on their website for $227.61(U.S) just for the DUEL AIR TUBE and $48.83(U.S) for each filter and it needs two filters for their kit? Just curious, because they are contridicting themselves. I'm seeing the prices at the bottom of the page that your link brings up.

Cool

HI!... 98 4X4FLARESIDE : I will be offering two set-ups. One that looks like a K&N FIPK but has custom mods done to it. (can't reveal my secrets yet ) The other will be a TRUE "RAM AIR" set-up that no one has thought of yet and is the only "TRUE" one on the market . You must be running my twin electric fan set-up though to make room for it. I don't think the 2ND one would be good for your application because you are a 4x4, but the 1ST one would be perfect. E-mail me if your interested.
